Nice Hotel close to Central Park and Times Square

Posted Aug 15, 2017
Pros: Quaint, really nice rooms. Could walk to most places we wanted to see. Staff was friendly.
Cons: Bathroom lighting needs to be a little brighter
Location: Close to Central Park, Times Square, Broadway, Fifth Avenue.
Stayed at The Blakely for 5 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was big and bed comfortable. Our room was just above the Black Tap Diner so did get a little noisy but we didn't mind it. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

Nice location, good value for money

Posted Aug 14, 2017
The hotel is old. and could be described as 'character'. It's lication was perfect for sight-seeing and within easy walking distance of Times Square, the Rockafeller Centre and subway stations. It's also handy for hop on/off busses. There are good restaurants, coffee shops and delis in the location, so lots to do. The hotel's restaurant is vloggers favourite The Black Tap, which is always busy but less so if you are a resident as priority seating is offered. We really appreciated the free breakfast and wifi. What was less appreciated was an email I received from staff after completing the expedia check in questionnaire. I answered this truthfully; I had not been offered a room upgrade at reception nor had this been mentioned. The email said my room HAD already been upgraded, although I couldn't see any difference to the one I booked. In fact I wasn't bothered about an upgrade, although I always check Expedia VIP hotels before booking to ensure quality. The email made me feel awful - as if I was being greedy or angling for something for nothing. This really wasn't my intention and it made me feel really uncomfortable throughout the stay. For this reason, I would not stay here again.

Thank you for the nice comments . Regarding the upgrade, sometimes the upgrade from a deluxe room to a Studio Suite may not be that noticeable but it is a lot bigger and it is on higher floors . As much as we cannot guarantee upgrades, we do often depending on availability . There is no harm in asking becasue we will gladly do it if we can .

Excellent value in great location

Posted Jul 30, 2017
With a lovely spacious sitting area and a large sleeping area, this hotel felt like a home away from home. The little Kitchenette was a great addition too.Located in central Manhatten, it was easy getting to all the main attractions and close to excellent restaurants and shopping. The only draw back is that the windows are old and thin so the street noise is quite loud even with the windows closed.

Thank you for the comments . With the city noise coming from outside , a lot of times we have no control over it but in the future , please request for a room in the higher floor , it might be a little more quiet than the lower floor for guests who are very sensitive to noise . Other than that , I hope you had a nice stay .

Nice hotel, good location, clean but the only thing you want to do (sleep) is impossible so there is noise all night The front is very badly soundproofed, there is no difference between the windows open or closed

Thank you for your comments . Please let us know in the future stays, maybe we could move you to a higher floor or at the back of the hotel a little further away from the street noise .

Very nice hotel conveniently located

Posted Jul 26, 2017
Pros: Conveniently located, very nice staff, clean and spacious room (for NYC) and I got an unbeatable price. There are lots of great restaurants nearby.
Location: The hotel is practically on 5th Avenue, and a short walk to either Central Park, or Times Square and Broadway Theaters.
I only stayed one night, but I would rebook this hotel without hesitation. The staff was very friendly and efficient, the room was clean, and the location was terrific (near Broadway theaters, 5th Ave. and Central Park).

Great location!!!

Posted Jul 26, 2017
Very nicely maintained older property in a fantastic location -- within walking distance to Central Park, midtown, shopping and not too far from broadway/Times Square The rooms are large and clean-- the hotel was a great value for NYC Bathroom was spacious compared to other properties I've stayed at in NYC Free breakfast was a plus but we didn't take advantage of it given our schedules We did get expedited seating at the Black tap for dinner next door The only cons are somewhat loud and inconsistently distributed A/c, small sofa bed ( can really only fit one teenager) and no VIP amenities despite being booked that way Otherwise a very good choice for our Manhattan stay

thank you for your nice comments . Sorry that you missed the breakfast at Black tap . We will make sure that the issues with the AC will be passed on to our Engineering department and get corrected. Otherwise , we are glad that you enjoyed your stay .
