Great hotel, not that far from tourist spots

Posted May 7, 2017
Pros: Clean and quiet. The breakfast alone is a great reason to stay at this hotel. You also have control of your own thermostat; that's a bonus in Europe.
Cons: A small map of restaurants in the area would be helpful to provide guests when the hotel's restaurant is closed. Or a partnership with Deliveroo.
Location: It is a 15-20 minute walk to get to the tourist places in Brussels. We went on a day trip to Bruges and Ghent and spent a lot of time at Grand Place.
Quick summary: I was traveling with my 82-year-old grandmother on this trip and we both loved the hotel but did a lot of walking to get anywhere. She could handle it but people with limited mobility or physical condition may need something closer to tourist spots. We took an Uber to get to this hotel from the airport and arrived way too early to check-in. They had a secured luggage area for us to store our suitcases and a bathroom off the lobby we could use before we headed off for the day. After getting a map from the reception desk, we took off for Grand Place. The Botanic Gardens next door are wonderful to walk through or past whenever you need to get downtown. After about a 15-20 minute walk (slightly downhill) we arrived at Grand Place and did all the tourist things nearby. We made it back to our hotel later that afternoon for check-in. The room was nice and quiet. We could see the Atomium from our room (in the distance). The orange trough sink in the bathroom adds to the quirkiness of the room. The bathtubs are deep and perfect for soaking after long flights and lots of walking. We did go ahead and put the sign on our door saying we didn't need our room cleaned in exchange for a 5 euro coupon to the hotel restaurant. We used a coupon to get a sandwich from the to-go fridge when we checked out. The hotel's breakfast was amazing! Love the waffles! We took a taxi to the Midi train station so I don't have any information about the nearby red-light district by the Nord.

Excellent hotel

Posted Apr 30, 2017
Pros: Everything ... especially the waffle bar as I own a VW Camper.
I have been using this hotel since before it was "BLOOM" and never found a fault with it. The staff are excellent, the rooms are great. Itz is close to the Metro, trans run outside and there always seems to be a taxi on call if you need one. I have been coming here for over 20 years and never bothered to even think about looking for somewhere else.

Hotel with Youth as the Theme

Posted Apr 5, 2017
What a blast to stay here. Everything is youth - art, design, etc. And I am old and still enjoyed! Attended a conference held here for Fulbright Europe. So a perfect venue for a youngish group of university students and scholars. But perfect for families as well. Very unique with art, gaming, and top food offerings. Rec highly!

NEVER

Posted Apr 3, 2017
During my check in, I am not happy with their Euro 50 credit card transaction for a provision against some probable losses in my hotel room. I did not like this. I frequently visit various hotels throughout Europe. I saw this strange appliciation for the first time. This is not fair and it is an unpleasant appliciation against the customer. The worse one is , during my check out, as I wanted to pay the city tax, it was automatically collected Euro 15 (for two persons) from my credit card. That means this hotel records my credit card information. As ex- banker I think that this is a very risky appliciation. So as soon as I arrived in my country I had to cancel my credit card. And also I wanted the reception to call me a taxi to the airport. The officer at the reception told me that I would pay Euro 30 only to the taxi If the hotel room number was given. But the driver collected Euro 40. This was also an unpleasant experience for us. So I have decided that I'll never stay at this hotel anymore and never recommend my friends.

Thank you for your feedback! We are truly sorry that you had an unpleasant experience during your stay. We fully understand your frustration. However, as in many hotels, we rent a room and just like for all rents we need a guarantee in case of damages. Once again this is only a guarantee – nothing more. The 50 EUR deposit is only blocked, not taken. It is given back right after the check-out. After your stay, your credit card information are not kept of course. Regarding the city tax, we always ask at the end of your stay how you want to pay for it and inform you what is still be to paid. It is a rate per room and per night. For the taxi, we are really sorry about the misunderstanding. The usual rate from Hotel BLOOM! to the airport is indeed around 40 EUR. Best Regards from Brussels.

BED WAS BAD

Posted Mar 29, 2017
Pros: Clean and good Shower Products
Cons: the bed
Location: Walkable to city center
The bed was awful- I had a hard time sleeping. The rooms were big and beautiful and i loved the shower products The location of the hotel was in a rather sketchy area. I wouldn't walk alone at night around the hotel!

Great hotel not far from tourist attractions

Posted Feb 6, 2017 on Ebookers
Pros: Artworks in rooms
Cons: Maybe more Reception staff at busy periods
Location: Location is fine....although north of the hotel it gets slightly grim. Best thing to do is travel downtown.
Great design hotel with nice spacious rooms (even the cheaper ones). Very comfy bed and bedding. Nice and quiet. Close to metro, and within 20mins of main touristic area by foot.
