The Metropole Hotel is the only surviving 19th century hotel still operating in Brussels. It had previously been a bank before being transformed into a hotel and this is obvious as you enter the stunning reception of the hotel, with it's series of huge stained glass windows and marble pillars.
Checking in was fast and efficient with friendly and very professional staff.
Our room was spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The marble bathroom with it's "his and her" sinks was large and well appointed.
Our only disappointment was that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in our room.
We found the 3 day/2 nights experience to be a very good one and would recommend this hotel to everyone.
One note of caution is that the hotel is on a large square (called Place de Brouckère) which has always been a busy thoroughfare with a lot of traffic. It is at the moment (March 2017) being pedestrianised and so is a major building site. This does not affect your stay at the hotel other than you will find it hard to sit on the café terrace outside to enjoy your favourite tipple !!!
