Old with all the good and bad

Posted Mar 25, 2017
First room shabby with no control of heat. Second room fabulous and graciously provided. Construction of square in front was not bothersome with rooms on backside of building. Nice restaurant and music downstairs. Old charm...

Pros: Amazing decor, so well preserved.
Location: Very central for everything
Very friendly welcome and helpful staff, we were made to feel very at home. We chose the hotel for its history and decor but were surprised how much we enjoyed the whole stay. We would stay again if in Brussels.

Elegant Belle Epoque Hotel close to Grande Place

Posted Mar 18, 2017
Pros: We loved its character and elegance, and the evidence of notable personalities who had stayed there over the centuries, most impressively being the 19
Cons: Toilet facilities for restaurant and reception were a long walk and some stairs. For older people and those with impaired mobility this could be prob
Location: The hotel itself was in a square that was being totally renovated, so difficult to visualise final outcome. It was surrounded by eating places and we
Currently there are road works in the square in which the hotel stands. This meant taxis cannot approach the front of the hotel and have to pick up and drop off 50m to 100m away. Wheeling suitcases over cobbles can be tricky. We stayed for three nights for our wedding anniversary and managed to get an upgrade as a result of the inconvenience of the roadworks. The room we were given was very spacious, beautifully decorated and at top floor level allowing us an equally spacious balcony where we could sunbathe in the mornings, the weather being unseasonably marvellous.

Nice hotel to experience - many times over

Posted Mar 14, 2017
Pros: The hotel effuses character and charm and is a must for visiting.
Cons: Relaxing areas away from the Café that could still be served with teas and coffee.
Location: Central location.
Lovely hotel with all amenities well presented. Food and drink in the "Metropole Café" was excellent with pricing consistent with external eateries. Wished we had eaten there more often. Staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. I am looking for an excuse to visit Brussels again and enjoy my stay at the Metropole.

Beautiful Hotel.

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Pros: The very central location, the efficiency of the staff, the cleanliness of the whole place.
The Metropole Hotel is the only surviving 19th century hotel still operating in Brussels. It had previously been a bank before being transformed into a hotel and this is obvious as you enter the stunning reception of the hotel, with it's series of huge stained glass windows and marble pillars. Checking in was fast and efficient with friendly and very professional staff. Our room was spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The marble bathroom with it's "his and her" sinks was large and well appointed. Our only disappointment was that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in our room. We found the 3 day/2 nights experience to be a very good one and would recommend this hotel to everyone. One note of caution is that the hotel is on a large square (called Place de Brouckère) which has always been a busy thoroughfare with a lot of traffic. It is at the moment (March 2017) being pedestrianised and so is a major building site. This does not affect your stay at the hotel other than you will find it hard to sit on the café terrace outside to enjoy your favourite tipple !!!

Great hotel in Brussels

Posted Mar 2, 2017
A superb classic hotel in the heart of Brussels. An air of opulence from a bygone age, modernised to suit the current traveller. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Friendly and exceptionally helpful staff.
