Historic Hotel in Downtown Bryan

Posted Dec 29, 2017
Hotel is everything we expected. His Storico hotel right on Main Street in downtown Bryan Texas. Plenty of antique, boutique and restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely recommend and come back if I’m ever in the area .

Nice hotel, right in downtown Bryan.

I wish the restaurant was open. It’s an old hotel, it’s been modernized. I like the rustic feel and the train didn’t bother me. Overall good experience!

Trains

Posted Dec 10, 2017
Great historical hotel for train enthusiast. I love the sound of trains driving over my skull at 2am. It really helps my insomnia. If only they had more than 6 trains per night, then I'd get a full night's rest. Lomotives are personally one of the best ways to get to sleep, and I might get my own train alarm at home.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the historical charm of our hotel. We are currently working with the city to enact a "quiet zone" in this area to combat some of the train noise. We hope you will stay with us again in the future!

Pros: I liked the good mix of modern upgrades to a historic building.
Cons: I got up early in the morning and went down to the lobby to read while my wife slept in. The music in the lobby was loud and distracting to read by.
Location: Lots of great antique shops downtown.
Nice Hotel. Stayed here two nights during Thanksgiving weekend. I was excited about staying here because my great grandmother lived here in the sixties when this building was a retirement home. I remember visiting her then. Our room was on the seventh floor with a northern view The room was comfortable.. The staff was nice. The downtown location was fun. When we checked in the desk person warned us about the trains and offered us ear plugs. The first night I heard the train but it wasn't a problem, the second night I slept right through it. The biggest problem was that the kitchen ran out of coffee each morning at breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Very friendly staff. Room was cozy.
Location: The shopping was good. Loved the bead shop and Jimini, We ate at RX Pizza and the Village and both were excellent.
The hotel was very nice. I don't expect much for breakfast, but it was not great. After the first night we just skipped breakfast at LaSalle.

Nice hotel close to Texas A&M

Room and service was great. The huge jetted tub and premium bedding was very nice. Beware however that it is one block from a very active train track.

Gone downhill?

Posted Oct 25, 2017
I booked this hotel based on the website photos and recommendations of others who have stayed there. I won't go back. I have a laundry list of things: 1. Website photos are clearly from a time when this hotel was in better condition. 2. The in room guide says there's a restaurant and bar. Indeed, there is a restaurant and bar that has closed down. 3. The in room guide says there are ice machines in floors 2 & 7. There are holes in the wall where ice machines used to be, and a sign that says to get ice at front desk. Okay, I go to the front desk and no one is there. I ring the bell, as thier sign indicates. I wait. No one comes to the desk. I ring again and wait. Nothing. I go to my room and call the hotel operator. No answer. Finally, I call the main hotel # from my cell phone and get someone. They bring ice 45 minutes after I first began searching for it. 4. My room wasn't cleaned during my stay. Came back in the evening to an unmade bed. 5. This is petty, but their in room guide talks about milk and cookies being served in the lobby in the evening. No sign of that anywhere. 6. After the first night, I learned to look for the absent hotel staff to be found in the courtyard smoking. 7. The "full breakfast" is barely good enough to be called continental. I've had a better breakfast at Motel 6. 8. Even checkout was a difficult experience. This hotel seems to be run by college kids who haven't a clue what they are doing.
