Having read a number of very mixed reviews, I was slightly concerned about booking into the Mill. But in having to work in Buckie the next day, I took a chance and booked into what is the only hotel of note in this area, and I'm pleased I did. Having seen many comments regarding traffic noise, I asked for a room at the rear of the property and upon arrival was shown to a very large family room (10) at the back of the hotel. The room was very well appointed with the sort of facilities you would expect in a decent 3 - 4 star property. It was obvious that some effort had gone in to refurbishment as the decor was both tasteful and like new. Rooms were very clean and the bed medium firm. Reception staff although young were very helpful, and really I couldn't fault the service we got. We ordered room service, was told the food would be 20 minutes and 20 minutes later it arrived, all correct and mostly very tasty, although the sticky toffee pud we ordered was cold and tough so we left it. There were a couple of other niggles, luke warm water both in the evening and the morning, but we were given a verbal apology for this. Also, no phones in the room, so ordering room service actually requires you to go to the bar and order it... Not great, but apparently the new phones are going in soon. Just hope the boiler is sorted too! All in all, we think the Mill may have been something of a duffer in a past life, but providing they sort the hot water and you get a room at the back, there is a lot to recommend this property for... Well worth a visit if you in the area.
