Very welcoming small and friendly hotel.

Pros: Well located, excellent value, comfortable, clean and simply furnished rooms, hot showers, generous breakfast, best of all friendly and helpful staff
Cons: For the price, they already offer excellent value. It would have been nice to have eggs for breakfast
Location: There is so much to see in Budapest all within easy reach (on the excellent Public transport system) Don't miss the thermal baths at Gellert Hotel.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff especially Dora were delightful and most helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast although unremarkable was all we needed to start the day. Conveniently situated in a quiet street 2 min from the 61 tram we could be in downtown Budapest in 15 mins. Beautiful city with fabulous vantage points to enjoy the views. The transport system is superb and very easy to negotiate with announcements in English as well as Hungarian. I would recommend a visit to Budapest and if you want a budget hotel the Abel Pension is difficult to beat.

Quirky

Posted Jun 25, 2013
Pros: Homely atmosphere, large public "living room" area
Cons: Unable to accept card payment - had to make special journey to ATM
Location: Quiet, leafy suburban street
A quirky place for those who like something a little different from the typical hotel experience. We were well looked after for the 2 nights we were there. Fine old building with lots of character, run by a very nice, professorial gentleman. Free Internet. The "parking" mentioned on the website turned out to be anywhere in the street where you could find a space - about 100m away in our case, so not too bad.

Very pleasant.

Posted May 29, 2012
Pros: People, my room, porch, yard.
Cons: Location was a little out of the way for my first time in Budapest.
Location: Location was a little out of the way but it was more about finding it initially. Just made it a little hard to pop back in for a minute.
The people were very nice. My room was big. It was the family room. I may have gotten because I booked late. The breakfast was good, a lot of food. Every room got their own plate of meat, cheese and vegetables, (I got more cheese because I don't eat meat.) There were lots of different kinds of bread and yoghurt, muesli and other cereal, coffee, tea, and juices. Breakfast was a pretty strict 7-9. Available in the the fridge for anytime was mineral waters, soda and beer. You were just to write down what you took. Also some liquor was available. I don't know what they charged for that. I took two waters and a beer and they ended up giving it as a gift. There was a porch and a yard you could sit in. Not right in the center, but there was a tram a block away. Only a problem if you stay out late. One night I took a taxi which was not expensive. The other night I walked a bit to the all night tram and then a little bit from it to the panzio (pension). Very pleasant overall.

Comfortabel pension in stille groene straat

Posted Aug 5, 2016

Man könnte was draus machen!

Posted May 7, 2015
