Hotel is complete splendour. Grand.

Pros: All of it - because it felt historic - most rooms had spendid views - but not all -check out before you book.
Cons: Carpets are a little worn in some areas! It was very warm in the rooms - not sure if they have air con for the summer months?
Location: Situated on the Buda side but so easy to walk to Pest. The fruit market was just across the bridge - an easy walk away to the shops.
Hotel service was excellent. The hotel is old and beautiful. The baths are amazing and the facilities offered by the hotel were excellent. Rooms a little tired - but very clean. Some of the modern day touches were missing, but such an historic building - what more can you expect? To modernise it any more would take away it's character and grandeur. The staff were always happy and willing. The stay was just classy!!

A beautiful, historical, and convenient hotel!

Cons: The only little unfortunate part for my stay is that the window blind in my room was not functioning very well.
I was fortunate to get a good deal when I was looking for a hotel on the Buda side in city! The environment, design, and overall experience in the bath is exceptional - probably my favourite part of my stay with Hotel Gellert. Besides, the staff is helpful; the room is comfortable; breakfast is pleasing; the location is perfect!

Great location but!

Pros: location
Cons: Needs a face lift on 4th floor hallways. Carpet bunched up making it easy to fall. Bed needed to be replaced. Missed having coffee maker in room.
Location: Metro, tram and busses right by hotel.
Best location, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful view of the Danube.

A quaint hotel

I quite enjoyed my stay. I had a great view of Gellert Park and Liberty Bridge from my balcony. The hotel is old and has seen better days, but that adds to the charm of the place. Breakfast was good. Good location with a tram stop just by the hotel, and a bus stop nearby. Getting around Budapest is so easy with the many transport links, and you're not too far from the castle area.

Good location but overrated facilities

Price was good and location good. Old property with musty odor. Thermal baths were not special at all. Not worth the effort to go. Confusing signage around the property. Breakfast staff were too efficient to take away the dishes. I lost plates and drinks twice.

Beautiful historic hotel

Pros: beautiful historic building in lovely setting and great location, with easy access to thermal baths outside and in, swimming pool and saunas
Cons: wider variety of fresh fruit at breakfast
Staff very polite and helpful Hotel has great atmospheric decor from a bygone era Worth paying extra for river view

History trip

Hotel met all my expectations. A little tired in places eg bedroom and bathroom furnishings but this didn't affect my comfort. Beds were fabulous and I slept better than I do at home. The breakfast buffet was more like a banquet with everything you could expect and more. It was great to have direct access to the spa and to have towelling robes for our convenience. The hotel is also very convenient for sightseeing whether on foot or if using the excellent public transport.

Lovely hotel

Great welcome easy check in, I had requested a kettle for my room and it was there ready for me. As I am a frequent guest I feel it's my home. I love my breakfast at the Gellert Hotel. The Gellert SPA is next door but it's not run by the hotel. As a guest you get one visit complementary and the rest of the visits are half price. I love the fact you can pop in to the SPA in your dressing gown. The staff at the hotel are very tentative and happy to help.
