This hotel is out of the way but was suitable for the area where I needed to be. Good public transportation in the vicinity but it would be hard to figure out for most tourists. The hotel is run down, the furniture beat up; the rooms are poorly soundproofed. The bathtub was very slippery, can't understand why they have bathtubs instead of showers in any hotel. The worst was the gathering of smokers just below my window, it was too hot if I kept the window closed, stunk when opened it plus loud as they were well lit too. There is a smoking area further out but they all gathered just outside the front door, keeping their drinks on an antique, Roman inscription to Vespasian.

It is true that we do not have a central location however, we are well connected by public transportation making it easy to reach the center. We are sorry to learn that overall, you found our hotel run down, however, we do understand your point. Ultimately, we are sorry to hear that gathering of smokers just below your window made your stay uncomfortable despite we have a designated smoking area opposite the entrance. Should be cheaper, as we are not in Iceland but in Hungary. Room, parking, restaurant and pools were good, but nothing more than that.

Great place. Only complaint was that there was no hot water in the shower. Luckily I do cold showers. So no problem for me. But the next guest might not like it :-)

The hotel was great. We had no problems with our reservation, we had safe parking. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is very close to bus station, and to the center.

Good hotel
Good 4 stars hotel. Helpful personnel, good breakfast, clean room and comfortable bed. Not a best location, but not so far from main tourists sites. Some saunas in the SPA was out of order.

Very convenient if you are comfortable taking public transportation. Easy few minutes on train H5 to chain bridge from where you can walk around. Also we took H1 from Kelenfold when we arrived. A bit round about journey but one tram to hotel option was great. The spa facilities are nice. Breakfast is good.

Hope it get bette the next time i am in town
Have stayed here in 2004, early 2023 and now. Hotel has definitely decayed. Rooms are not very clean, mine had dirt stains on the wall. thewindow did not open or slose properly Spa was still on good condition though. And restaurant though slighly antiquated in furniture and decor it has a good mix of food and wines.

I must say my review would have been much better if my room was not robbed. The hotel was lovely, rooms maybe needed some refreshing but otherwise nice and comfortable. On the last day even though we were checking out our room was cleaned, 300 euro- all the cash I had was taken from my wallet. I feel violated and uneasy now about my time here. There is apparently an investigation into the incident but I have not heard anything. I would hate this to happen to anyone else. It’s a shame as all my interactions with staff were amazing and I thought everyone to be lovely. Such a shame a wonderful stay can be ruined by a cold act of thievery

Hotel was great and the staff was helpful and pleasant to talk too. Only thing that was on the negative was that the hotel AC was not working but they were prompt to get us a fan for our room. The pool was so great we just went ahead and skipped the thermal bath houses around since the hotel has one. WINNING

Great old hotel
Wonderful old hotel. It has good bones and is well cared for. Don’t forget to use the spa! After a long day of walking it was a godsend. Great breakfast.

Excellent Hungarian restaurants within walking distance. Pleasant pool and spa in facility. Top notch restaurant in hotel. VIP room was good but HVAC still struggles as most european hotels do.

Don't waste your money
This hotel should have its 5 star revoked. They converted a very old building and tried making a resort. However, they need a complete overhaul. The elevator to the left has been under maintenance for 5 years now. Door handles are screwed in with rusty screws. Cleaning staff didnt clean anything, all toothpaste and tishues were left exactly as it was. Hotel takes all tips from service members and was told by the server to save my money and not tip. Old lady at the check-in needs to retire immediately

Ave Hotel, but tired. Terrible unwelcoming service
Very poor reception service. From the moment of checking in I did not feel welcome. Everything seemed to be too much effort and difficult. I am a hotels gold member and stay in a lot of hotels. The booking should have come with a room upgrade if available. I had to ask for this and was then scrutinised by several ‘muttering’ staff including a supervisor who was very reluctant to upgrade. Eventually they did but it made me feel quite uncomfortable. The room type was exactly the same, but did have a complimentary mini bar and entitled me to free soft drinks and hot drinks at the bar. However, every other day I had to email (as reception don’t answer calls from room and the reception queues are often stupidly long with people complaining about something or another) via hotels.com to state that the mini bar had not been topped up as it should be. This went on for 4 occasions… each time, apart from the last, an apology reply came back from the guest relations manager ensuring me it wouldn’t happen again! But it did! I was also challenged each time I ordered a soft or hot drink at the bar, being scrutinised like a criminal! I stayed 15 nights! Finally, I checked out by handing my room card into reception and then took a seat in the lobby to order a taxi. I was then summoned back to the desk like a naughty school child! I was then kept waiting while 3 supervisors checked I had paid my bill. It was paid upfront to Expedia/Hotels!!! I was made to feel like a potential criminal.

Overall experience is quite good. Clean room, very good buffet breakfast and helpfull staff. Bathroom equiment (e.g. taps) is quite old and should be replaced.

Not my most welcoming stay.
Non refundable booking - instead of 2 nights, only stayed a few hours: asked if they could waive the parking fee: "cannot". (we are talking about 15ish USD) Deducted a full night parking at check in (there is an hourly fee as well, which in my case would have been cheaper) - when asked about it at check out (8 hours later), the answer was "I cannot give you a refund...". The problem is not the money, but about the general attitude.

A hotel with lots of rooms and a minimum of employees. My room was not cleaned for three days until I arrived at the manager's desk shouting. All the maintenance of the spa is neglected and the water in the pools is full of foreign bodies, really disgusting. By the way, from a conversation with the cleaning staff, I was told that they do not have adequate personnel. But the payment for the service is full.

Great staff but property in need of modernisation
This is a dated building with old facilities in need of modernisation. Staff are helpful and multilingual. The showers have low power, no liquid handwash, pillows offer the support of paper towels and thin blankets on the large bed. At least the room was warm, (A/C not working) safe in room, small tv with few english channels. Parking is extra, breakfast is a good selection of hot foods and fruits/ cereals. Spa area is dangerous when wet, 1 steam room not working, 1 lift not working, exposed cables and plugs on lower floor outside lift. difficult to find a free lounger, old furniture.

Every service this hotel offers is first-rate: reception staff is multilingual and very helpful; the spa facilities are beautiful (though there are no really hot pools as I would have liked); the breakfast is absolutely mind-blowing. It’s a few miles outside the city center, but it’s only a 2 or 3-minute walk to a transit hub that will connect you to the center rapidly and comfortably. Highly recommend.
