Clean and Inexpensive, but Loud and Uncomfortable

Pros: Inexpensive, clean, simple, great breakfast choices.
Cons: Muffle the dang doors, insulate the rooms better, better mattresses.
Location: It's about two or three miles from downtown Salida - not much to see from the hotel location, but easy enough to get in and out of the good stuff.
It was what it was - a Comfort Inn. Certainly didn't go in with any super high expectations. We just needed a room for the night. The room was very clean and the staff was outstanding, but the beds were extremely firm and uncomfortable (for me - my husband likes 'em like a board). The most disappointing aspect was just how loud everything was. We were four doors down from the stairwell, and every time someone went in and out of the door there was a huge, wall-shaking slam, which went on all night. Also, when people would enter and exit their rooms, the doors were quite loud. And we could hear people in the rooms next to and across the hall from us talking. Not yelling. Just talking. It was like they were in the room with us. However, the breakfast was fantastic for what it was, and the woman who runs the breakfast was obviously very passionate about what she does and and the cleanliness and tightness with which she runs the breakfast ship.

one of the nicer hotels in Salida

While the room was clean and tidy I could smell a bit of musty mildew. As with most hotels neighboring room noise was evident. If you are a light sleeper, bring your white noise devise. The breakfast offerings provided a variety of food choices. The hot food was hot. Cold food was cold. There were plenty of food choices.

A great week long trip that ended badly

After a long day on the road my wife and I were really looking forward to some rest. When we got to our room we found a room that hadn't been cleaned from previous night. Upon return to the front desk we were informed that it was the last room and they would get a cleaned. An hour later we told the room was finally ready only to find house keeping just getting started. The front desk seemed overwhelmed and clueless. Strike three! Tired and angry we wrote off the none refundable room and went on down the highway in complete disgust with our experience. Not how we wanted to finish what had been a great week long vacation.

Mixed feelings

Staff was friendly and hotel was pretty clean. The wifi sucks! We had no data service in Salida and we where counting on the hotel wifi for directions. The wifi kept coming and going the whole time we where there, my phone never connected and my husbands phone kept loosing signal every 5 minutes. I'd suggest u invest a little more on a better internet service!

Pros: Location and size of the room.
Cons: Update on carpet, paint colors and artwork.
Location: I don't know. I worked.
It was ok. Not my usual choice, but I was not familiar with the area.

Had what appeared to be bed bugs

They moved us rooms at 10 at night. Then they gave us a bill for the whole amount . I have never in my life of traveling have to change rooms. They ended up taking $25 off
