very noisy. Not relaxing.

Posted Apr 12, 2012
Pros: the building had lots of charm
Cons: the noise, and the a bit run down
Location: very good.
Just stayed one night in BA and chose this hotel for it was in different location than where i am used to staying. Unfortunately there was a party in the hotel/ dinning area, which as it an old house, it was very noisy. I rang down to reception 3 times and finally the noised stopped at 2am. I had to get up and take a flight to london the next morning. I would not stay here again.

Crumbling building

Posted Mar 22, 2012
The hotel needs serious fix up. The paint on the walls is falling and mildew is seen everywhere. The musky smell of mildew is also quite horrible. The windows are not properly shut hence it's very difficult to sleep at night. If it was a cheap hotel I would say ok ... you get what you paid for but seriously just with extra 20$ you can find much much better hotels in the same area.

Conditional Recommendation

If you are looking for a very basic crash pad, this is it. Two blocks from the subway, safe neighborhood, clean bed and a breakfast not fancy but will not let you starve. Free WiFi, ancient TV in room, LCD in lounge, computer access in lounge. Other than that, be warned, it is in a run-down building.

Perfectly located, friendly & small

Safe for a woman to walk alone to the subte or for dinner at night on Santa Fe Avenue. Staff speaks English well enough. You ring the bell to enter the lobby door. It didn't bother me that the mattress was not firm and the room small. Breakfast was toast, cold cereal, juice, coffee etc. I already recommended it to another woman.

Worth The Price

Friendly and helpful staff. Place was clean, cozy and quite. I also enjoyed how secure I felt there. In an ideal location and only a block away from the train line. Breakfast served daily and was satisfactory.

Very good hotel and nice neighborthood

Posted Oct 9, 2010
The hotel is convenient place close to a supermarket and subte aguero station. Staff is very helpful. We stay there for 5 day. Neighborthood is secure and quiet. Once you will return to airport is better to take a cab with the staff of hotel, they help us to get a good rate.

Don't believe what in pictures

This place is not what in reality is. Mainly is a place for young students. It is like a youth hostel for local students. It isn't well maintained and the noise level is very high because is located on a very busy street. The hot water runs out often becuase the water heater is not big enough even though the place was half way full. We also found out that our breakfast (which is not that good) wasn't included and we have to pay extra for it. The bed was very uncomfortable and the front desk people were students of the traveling school. They were very nice, but they didn't know what to do most of the time most of them where not from Buenos Aires. We found out that it isn't in Recoleta, but in Palermo area.

Great place but get a room with aircon in summer!

Posted Feb 24, 2010
Nice character building in great location, short walk to metro and shops. Good common area to relax. The room we had did not have air-con but there were rooms that did have aircon in the place. We were there in the middle of summer and the room was very warm the first night! the weather cooled down after that and was a lot better.

great location at bargain price

Milonga feels like your grandpa/grandma's place. Old and dated but charming. And so in a way it accurately represents Buenos Aires which has seen its golden years in past and what left is grace and reminder of that past. So in short, we loved Milonga for its character even though it is bit worn out. My wife and I stayed 3 days in their Alfonsina suite and 3 days in Gardel suite during Jan 2010. We liked Gardel suite more even though it did not have water hot enough for shower compare to Alfonsina. Both are bit noisy facing the street but I assume it should be the case for most of the hostels/hotels located in Buenos Aires city. The biggest plus is that Milonga is located in nice and safe neighborhood - recoleta, 2 blocks away from Metro and less than block away from super market which we used almost everyday. The staff was extremely helpful and spoke better english than majority of people we met in Buenos Aires. Highly recommended for folks who are looking for simple but charming place in great neighborhood at bargain price.
