The room was clean and smelled nice. The beds and linens were very comfortable. The management was kind and available whenever we needed them. We had a very pleasant stay and would stay there again. The only complaint I heard from my husband was about the road noise. There is a stop light right in front of the hotel and the occasional engine breaks were loud. Even with that, we would stay again because of the excellent value for the money.

Could not set anything on the shelf under te mirror in the bathroom because it was almost falling off the wall. Could not fill the sink in the bathroom for shaving because thr stopper did not work. No hot water for the bathroom sink, it was just lukewarm. The key for my room quit working and I had to go to the office to tell them before I could get into my room. There should be numbers in the parking spaces to match the room numbers to make it eaiser to unload your vehicle, I had to park two rooms away from my room and walk back and fourth to unload, I am 82 years old and it was about 30 degrees outside. The parking spaces need to be marked because the shape of the motel makes parking confusing. There was no coffee maker in my room.

Didn’t like the staff! Rude as f*$k!! Negative temperatures and the woman acts like killed her dog when I smoked one cigarette in the room right before she showed up at the door the first of the five times she knocked. Won’t ever stay there nor recommend the sh!7 hole!!

Whenever my family and I stay at a hotel in Keokuk, we always stay at the Chief Motel! I love being able to park my car just a few steps from the door to my room! There are certain inconveniences, like having to walk a bit (outside) to get to the ice machine, but in the same room, they do have a washer and dryer for tenants' use. We have stayed at the Chief at least once a year over the past 13 years, and EVERY TIME, the rooms have been clean, good smelling, and (for the most part), in good repair. The owners care about you, and about their place! Nice towels. (Continental breaskfast has to be carried back to the room [up and down 4 stairs] and it is just cold cereal and Little Debbie's snacks. [Be sure to take the tray that the ice bucket is on, so you can use it to carry your things). Dairy Queen is right across the street. HyVee grocery store, Walmart, Dollar Tree, Taco Bell, and much more within walking distance.

The Chief is a good old fashioned strip motel right on Main Street. A mile West of the Mississippi River. There is a nice park over at the river's edge. Tons of stores and restaurants nearby. No frills, but I slept like a baby here.

The rooms were damn clean and the beds made me feel like I needed to have sideburns and bell bottoms to stay there but the mattresses were wow type of comfortable! The bathrooms looked modern and clean. I can not complain at all for a non corporate hotel.

A GEM IN KEOKUK
This us a smaller, privately-owned, older motel. The owners of this motel are caring and available 24/7 to make sure that things are right during your stay (they even brought a plunger at midnight). I like the convenience of having my car parked right outside my door. Breakfast consists of ONLY: 3 types of cold cereal, 4 types of individually packaged (Little Debbie's type) baked goods--2 kinds of donuts & 2 kinds of muffins, milk and sometimes orange juice (that's the entire menu)...and has to be carried back to the room to eat it (careful, you will have to manage 4 stairs to get to the office (where the breakfast items are kept & also to check in). Have stayed here more than once before and rooms are consistently clean and nice. Non-smoking doesn't smell like smoke. Washer & dryer, in nice condition, on property, as well as an ice machine. Fridge & microwave in every room. There us also a very nice laundramat right across the street, Walmart, Sonic, Hyvee, Dairy Queen (cold foods only), KFC, Pizza Hut, Happy Joes, and MUCH MORE within walking distance, too. Best lodging price in town.
