Unsuitable for families with small children.

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Pros: Helpful staff, good breakfast selection, excellent motorway links,
Cons: the pull out sofa beds are awful (not fit for purpose) and the windows should be upgraded
Location: Clitheroe castle and Townley Park
Booked a room for one adult and two children. Received a room with two double beds (one of which was the most uncomfortable sofa bed I have ever encountered!) I had to sleep on it in the end as my children couldn't settle with all the hard bumps. There was also no bath, and as my children are small we struggled without. They also struggled to share in double as they are both too young. The windows were very poor quality, which allowed a lot of noise from the adjacent motorway into our room. Throughout the night the air-conditioning unit repeatedly turned on/off and disturbed all of our sleep, despite my best efforts to turn it off. On arrival the television remote was broken. A helpful staff member did remedy this around an hour and a half later. The toilet on arrival could have been cleaner.

Fleeting visit to the North

Posted Oct 24, 2017
Stayed the night before British Power Lifting Championships at Blackburn. Son needed to weigh in at 8am on the Saturday so could not eat before. Asked at receiption if he could take a breakfast with him to eat after his way in and was told it was not a problem, in fact in the room it said the same on the information card. However in the morning he went down for a carryout and was told this service was only available Mon to Fri. He explained the situation and asked was it possible to have some tin foil so he could take a bacon sandwich or some toast and was told "sorry, no we dont have any". He left hungry and a little annoyed. However when I spoke to the receiptist she was extremely accommodating and got be a bag. So the other 3 guests and I left to support my son and deliver him a long awaited bacon sandwich so I would say all in all the receiption staff were helpful but the catering staff could have made the situation a little less difficult.

3* average hotel, cheap and cheerful

Posted Aug 2, 2017 on Hotels
disgusting ironing board cover, filthy and covered in stains. Bed was ok, room was ok, this is a simple 3* hotel nothing more or less. Breakfast is a small buffet and bread as a bit dry but fair for the price of £7.95. Room service was pretty poor as well, would be better going out somewhere for a meal.

Overnight stay before Tough Mudder

Posted Jul 30, 2017 on Hotels
All I wanted was a bed for the night before attending Tough Mudder Yorkshire.Staff very helpful, hotel clean and tidy , had a room next to motorway passing traffic could be heard . Request a room at front of hotel if a light sleeper. Breakfast was good and you could help yourself which I did !! All in all good value for money will stay again

Good location for Burnley

Posted Jun 26, 2017 on Ebookers
We were given a disabled room, which wasn't a problem, but the pull out bed was very uncomfortable, the bathroom was a wet room so after having a shower you had to stand in 1cm of water to use the sink and toilet....this lasted until the room was cleaned as there was no mop etc. The breakfast was good but there was a dance exam going on so the area was packed with children and it felt like you had a audience whilst eating your breakfast. The worst thing was there was a very loud noise everytime someone turned the taps on in another room, which woke us up both mornings. Did report this to reception but the problem was still there the following day. We have stayed in this hotel before and it was OK just disappointing this time.
