A traditional hotel with plenty of charm

Posted Nov 3, 2017
We had a lovely break here. Each room was different and traditionally decorated but modern amenities. Very clean. Ideal location opposite a pretty park and near tourist attractions. Staff very friendly. Breakfast delicious and accommodated all our different tastes especially as one in the party required gluten free. Defiantly would recommend and return.

Nice hotel close to the Opera House and center

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Pros: All staf very helpful.
Location: 2 minutes from Opera House Theatre and close to town center.
The bath had been removed and replaced with a walk in shower - very nice! But there wasn't any shower gel, only bath salts! We asked for some shower gel but they could only provide some soap. The windows were filthy, due to next door building works, but these are going on for years so when are they going to clean the outside windows?

Lovely staff and great location but tired decor

Posted Sep 11, 2017
We loved the location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and attentive but the decor in the public areas and our bedroom were old and tired. The net curtain in our room was dirty, the fan in the bathroom was clogged with dust and the toilet handle was broken and kept getting stuck-the hotel is definitely in need of refurbishing.

Good base for walks and tours of the Peaks

Posted Aug 26, 2017
Pros: Fabulous staff and a fab building. Full of history.
Cons: It could do with a paint job and new carpet on the stairs.
Location: Great location for walkers and scenery.
The staff in the hotel are very friendly and professional. Breakfast is very good. A beautiful park opposite the hotel to walk dogs. Very good hotel to take your dog with you.The staff are very dog friendly. Being in the centre of town you can walk about, you don't need your car. There is a little red bus that takes you about the town which leaves from outside the hotel.

Old charm

Posted Aug 24, 2017
The hotel has good deal of character . In a good central position opposite park . We were given a warm welcome. Room to a good standard clean with view over park. Good breakfast served in restaurant. Hotel for me was definitely miss Marple , with character.

Excellence

Posted Aug 19, 2017 on Hotels
A quite exceptional hotel. The reception staff were excellent; the room large and immaculately clean. The food in the wine bar is very good and there is a decent selection of beers. Breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. Would highly recommend the hotel and I'm looking forward to going back.

Nice hotel in centre of Buxton

Posted Aug 19, 2017
Pros: Room was spacious and hotel location was convenient. Staff were excellent!
Cons: Some of the furniture is a bit jaded and some of the reception rooms could be more welcoming.
Location: Lots of things to do nearby. Opera house. Buxton crescent . Large park opposite.
Lovely comfortable hotel with all amenities. Lots of history.
