Good luck sleeping

Posted Oct 20, 2017
Not sure if every room is as bad but the room we had was not good. Everything seemed tidy and clean albeit out of date and stained (tubs, sinks, toilets). We tried sleeping but kept hearing water hammer/ pipes banging. At first I thought someone just turned on the tap. However it occurred ever 1 to 2 minutes, we had to turn on the a/c to provide loud enough white noise to mask it, and let me tell you the a/c unit was loud enough!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We are sorry your stay was not as good as you would have liked. Our heating system operates on a hot-water boiler system and now that the cold weather has arrived, I am sure the noise you were hearing was the water making its way through the pipes; we will be sure to address this issue to provide a quiet, comfortable place to stay.

OK place to sleep

Posted Oct 11, 2017
Cons: Everything is old the rooms could use a face lift
Location: Check out "Chums" for breakfast its great
Everything was fine and as you would expect for a roadside motel. Be aware the desk closes at 11 for check in if you are planning to arrive late. The kids said they would only rate the Motel at 1 star but they had never stayed in a motel before. As far as motels go Id say its average.

Desert Inn - good place, great service.

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location, decent rates, good parking for larger vehicles, great communication with staff (quick to answer e-mails, etc.).
Location: Cache Creek is not a big town - the Desert Inn is centrally located, so it is close to all amenities.
The Department of Geography at SFU routinely stays at this hotel for several of our overnight field trips - decent price, convenient, and friendly staff....just wrapped up a two-night stay last weekend, will be back at the end of October.

Worked for us

Posted Sep 2, 2017
After a long, smoky day on my motorcycle, the cheerful, helpful staff welcomed us. It is an older facility but appears to be family owned and they do their best to accommodate guests. It needs upgrades which the owners appear to be tackling one at a time so good for them. A place to sleep which is what was needed and it fit the bill. We would stay again.

Staff good, but rooms poor

Posted Sep 1, 2017
Pros: Convenient to roads, safe area, good for walking. Also good choice of stores and restaurants nearby.
Cons: Plumbing. Wi-fi. Wi-fi routers and extenders are dirt cheap.
Location: Central in Cache Creek
The first room had a non-functioning a/c. At almost 90F this was a problem. Also the pool was not working! When we complained about the a/c we were given an upgraded room, but the a/c in this room was about 1 foot away from the bed, so not too comfortable at night. Also, the wi-fi did not work in this room. Both rooms had significant green staining in the tubs and the faucet in the upgraded room would not shutoff.

We are sorry that you were not happy with either of your rooms. It was unfortunate that on the evening in question we were fully booked and that we could only offer you a room we would not normally have let out as a result. We hope that at some point in the future we will have the opportunity to host you and offer you more suitable accommodation.

Very Good for the low cost

Posted Aug 18, 2017
Pros: Good location, but then again Cache Creek isn't that large.
Cons: Motel is showing it's age. The TV's cable had a few too many "snowy" channels.
Location: Right across the street from the Oasis hotel, with a pub and Mannie's grill.
This is a low budget motel. You get what you pay for. Great for one night.

Clean, convenient, well-priced, great staff

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Spent just one night here over Canada Day long weekend. Price for 2bdrm suite was excellent considering the weekend, and our last minute booking through Expedia was easy and without any issues! Some light fixtures didn't work in the room, and the decor is dated if you care about that sort of thing, but the AC worked, the shower pressure/hot water was excellent, and the motel-provided toiletries and coffee in the room were quite nice. The couple that manage the motel are friendly and outgoing, and though the pool was closed for repairs during our stay, that wasn't what we were there for in the first place. Cache Creek isn't often the first place you think to return to as it doesn't have a whole lot to do (we were road tripping), but if we do, we will most certainly look to return to the Desert Inn.
