The hotel is a beautiful old building sensitively restored, El Puerto de Santa Maria is also a lovely old town with the advantage of having an expansive beach.

Good trip with some reservations
There were good and bad aspects to the hotel. For example, on the good side; the hotel was well located (half way between the train station and down town), the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was big and comfortable. On the negative side; the hotel had the worst WIFI I ever experienced in a hotel and some of the towels and rugs were a bit worn. Overall it was a good experience.

Good Location to El Puerto Santa MAria
The hotel is great and I have stayed several times for work and pleasure, I has a nice pool area, indoor courtyard / terrace seating, amazing art through out the building, Rooms are nice, AC is good and good showers, Only think I noticed that I am not happy about is No Coffee or Tea Facilities in Room, and No Toiletries in the Bathroom, sounds silly but to me its just expected

My third time to stay in this hotel. Town centre location. Top class accommadation. Excellent breakfast for €10 - buffet. Lovely pool area. Friendly staff.

Disappointing stay
The bedroom was very old fashioned and it was located next to a very noisy street. There were some machines in the hotel next to the bedroom that made a horrible noise all through the night, which kept us awake all night. The bedroom was boring and lacked character without any pictures on the walls, flowers or ornaments. One of the bedside lamps was broken. The television was sitting on a table that blocked most of the mirror, which is nonsensical. The bathroom was old and in very poor condition, as were the wardrobes. The towels were old and very uncomfortable (too rough for the body and dry) The curtains in the bedroom were old and dirty with holes in them and there were several blood stains on the curtains. The swimming pool was nice, however, there was only one parasol available in the complete pool area and the parasol was broken. We’d booked to stay three nights, but we left the next morning after the first night because we weren’t going to endure any further discomfort. We received a refund but no compensation or any gesture of goodwill from the management for the inconvenience caused.

Very nice hotel. Great location.
A very nice hotel in the centre of town. Excellent breakfast, lovely pool. Top class comfortable rooms. Excellent ensuite bathrooms with loads of hot water. Overall perfect.

Great location, within walking distance of the center with restaurants and bars. Nice setting , however the rooms are very noisy, we were waken up by the cleaning staff both days

Overpriced for very basic hotel room
I paid Euro 159 for a one night stay which was not value for money for a very basic run down room with no amenities. Ok it was a monastery which is interesting for a walk around but as a hotel it was not fair value. The superb rating on my booking agency website was a total mis-representation.

Short break
Really excellent stop in a lovely hotel. Staff were first rate and the building is incredible. We parked under the hotel for free and the safe was free as well. Breakfast was very good and reception were very helpful, with extra pillows etc. My only small gripe is that it was extremely warm as it’s too early in the year to switch AC on!!

What a lovely property, such wonderful and helpful staff members, and a purely delightful breakfast. It is also close to the downtown restaurants, the train station and the catamaran to Cadiz.

This is a beautiful building, well furnished and spotlessly clean. It was great value for our stay in February. The only downside is that the free parking immediately outside the hotel is limited to 15 minutes. There is then a secure car park below the hotel that costs 10 euros per night. Overall, highly recommended.

Reduced service hours in cafe has been a very very bad trend over the many years we have been visiting this hotel. It's getting close to a make or break for repeat visits.

The hotel is beautiful in a great location approximately 5 mins walk to the centre of Santa Maria. The breakfast was amazing and it has a nice pool area and garden, although the pool was very cold. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel and staff as advertised, a calm sanctuary. Our room 143 was a little basic and tired. The small pool was a delight although crowded every afternoon. Insufficient space for guests due to lack of lounger space. Great breakfast in relaxed environment. Parking the car was a nightmare, hotel car park always full. Parking Parisienne style, bumper to bumper on surrounding streets.

Booked a superior room which we were lead to believe from the pictures, that it had a lounge area too. The room we had was a good double room with balcony which was fine but we did feel mislead. Also, it would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Reception staff were a credit to the hotel. The hotel itself had plenty of character. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Cafeteria menu was limited but tasty. Would've liked to have seen a couple of traditional Spanish dishes on the menu though.

A holy feeling.
The room we were allocated initially was dreadful, depressing and a nasty drainage smell, we were upgraded quickly however it came with an extra cost of 20 euro a night. There is no doubt it’s a beautiful building full of religious artefacts but the rooms are a little Spartan and the corridors are cold. We ate in the bar/cafeteria one evening and the food was poor however the breakfasts were extremely good. On the whole though good value for money.

This was our second visit to this hotel. Lovely old building. Check in was a bit slow. Room ok but for a 4* hotel really missed a few details - no hair conditioner or body lotion. For a light snack in the evening only the bar was open and between four of us, each item that we wanted to order was not available..... bad luck i suppose.

Gorgeous hotel with lots of history and super friendly and helpful staff. The bathroom was pretty small but workable and the bed was a bit hard but it fit the bill. We weren’t in the hotel too much, just to sleep so it was a good bet for the money.

We had a wonderful time. Because of high temperatures we really took advantage of the pool and enjoyed our vacation to the maximum. Very walkable and beautiful building. Definitely a hotel to go back.

Hotel's policy is non-smoking and a room that was flooded with tobacco smell was asigned to me. When asked at the registration counter the answer was: we can't control if guests smoke in the room and there is no other room available (End of quote) !

Nice hotel. Unfortunately the first room we were put in had an awful droning sound (I think from air conditioning units or maybe the kitchen) and made sleeping very difficult. The hotel staff were very happy to move us. Our second room was better for noise, but a little tired. Breakfast is a standard buffet, with a very nice selection of fruits, cereals, etc. that would suit almost everyone. Even cookies. Swimming pool is great; Well kept, and cool. The building itself is quite beautiful in my opinion. Tried ordering room service late one night but we were told we’d get a ring back. Never did and the kitchen closed. Ended up going out instead; there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Would probably stay again, but maybe spend more for a high quality room.

Extraordinary common areas
Absolutely beautiful 18th century monastery full of original religious paintings and furniture dating as far back as the 15th century. That is in the common areas (perfect renovation). Rooms are ok but nothing fancy.
