  • Disliked: Cleanliness

Staff at front desk loud at all hours of the night, despite being told more than once, at 1am to quiet it down. The building is filthy dirty with urine smell if you choose the stairway. Unsafe elevator for children. Will go up with inside door open and gaping huge openings between floors. Electricity went out for a few hours, water and AC went with it and the response: this is not management fault. If you don’t know you can have more than one cup of coffee with breakfast, you might pay for it. Otherwise, the staff was mostly cheerful and had a happy go lucky attitude.

Convenient Cairo stay

Basic room in very convenient location to museum. Noisy side street with dogs barking and activity in early morning starting at 3am. Very friendly staff with very good service. Door to bathroom had a noisy lock mechanism.

The staff was lovely. Couldn’t ask for a more central location. The room was great. My specific room did face the back so I didn’t get much light but really can’t complain given the price to have my own bathroom, the staff, and the space. Bed was very comfortable and shower had good water pressure and hot. I spend very little time inside anyway. It is in a little alleyway so ask for specific instructions but it’s easy - on Talaat el Harb street, right across the mall, the store next to the alleyway entrance is called Maher - or anyone on the street can point you there. They’re open 24/7 and available to answer any questions. Would stay there again for sure.

The positives: it’s cheap and it’s in downtown. The staff spoke English, which you can’t take for granted in Egypt. The staff is nice and willing to help. AC works and you can have hot/warm shower. I felt safe in my room. Breakfast was also provided. Negatives: the bedsheets/pillowcases appeared to have been reused without being washed after the previous customers. There were two beds; both had hairs on the bedsheets and pillowcases and one of the bedsheets appeared soiled. I asked for new linen and was given without problem. The hotel is hidden away on one floor of a run-down building with poor lighting, stray cats and trash littering the stairs and hallways before getting on the floor where the hotel is located. There is an elevator, but it was finicky and appeared unsafe. Ultimately, I felt that the cheap price was worth it.
