Disgusting room, silly and incompetent staff.

Posted Jun 11, 2016
Cons: Staff, except for the Director of Housekeeping, Mohamed Lotfy, a receptionist named Michael, and a black concierge named Mohamed.
Location: Taxis were always needed, and the doormen in suits were incompetent at best and lazy at worst, although those in uniform were much better.
I stayed here for a total of five nights during the first week of Ramadan. There were serious communication challenges when I checked in after a super-early flight. Once I thought I was finally settled in a room, I had my shower despite the broken shower and brown towel, I flipped the duvet only to see a major pool of blood – as per photos. I was then upgraded to a Nile Suite. While the staff were preparing the suite, a young male receptionist openly fought in the corridor in my presence (the door was open) with a front desk manager named Mustafa who kept asking him to leave, and the young person kept refusing to do so, and through Mustafa he threatened me in Arabic. After a long discussion with the Director of Rooms, Amr Zein, things began to improve. I checked out in a joyous mood, after a relaxing half-day tour to the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, only to have it ruined by a concierge named Mohamed (an Arab Mohamed; a black concierge also named Mohamed had always been very nice and efficient) who thought it funny and appropriate to insult a male guest to his face by addressing him, as the guest was booking a car for the airport, as Ms both verbally and in writing (on the car booking) repeatedly, and by a pre-airport dinner at the Lebanese restaurant next to the in-house casino, called Bab El Nil, with its bad food and disgustingly bad service. Throughout my stay, a duty manager named Nady was just bad, and a receptionist named Miriam seemed to conflate tedium with wit.
