I will not recommend this hotel anymore! I have booked this hotel for 2 nights in total but stayed at Giza for 1 night in between. The reason for us to book the same hotel in Cairo on the night before and after going to Giza is that we only need to bring little thing and leave our large luggage in the hotel. However, when we back from Giza, the staff told us that the hotel was fully booked and no more room for us. They moved us to another hotel which is more far away in a alley and having water leakage while the air-conditioner was on! Then we were carrying our large backpack and walk for around 10 minutes moving to another hotel! And I really can’t receive any apologize for their arrangement and their attitude was not very good at all!!!

Convenient location near museum
While the hotel is very urban (ie. elevator and building in general are not modern), the floor of the building with the hotel is comfortable. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast is excellent. The staff went out of their way to help make our stay and our Cairo experience enjoyable.

Posh little hotel at great location. You will not meet Saudi Arabia King here but hotel offer great quality/price ratio. (@Hotel Grand Royal - Please take care of all elevator doors.)

Def book the hotel. The employees are lovely but I don’t recommend the tours. I booked a trip to Giza for two in English and the tour guide decided to do it in Spanish when he realized I spoke Spanish but my friend didn’t. There was a huge lack of professionalism which made us feel uncomfortable as two female travelers. Also while we were told that the entrance to the pyramids were not included, they didn’t tell us that we would be force to purchase a camel ride because if not we would have to walk 12km to see them which was a lie because the entrance was around the corner. That was an additional $45 that was not expected. Book tours with Memphis instead.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
You'd be better off sleeping on the sidewalk. I was glad they didn't have a room for us (even though it was pre-paid) so they sent us to their "sister" hotel, The Valencia, a few blocks away (hauling our luggage assisted by on of their staff members) which was just as bad. The towels were wet, the shower daring was clogged, the door lock was broken, they floors had not been mopped in a long while. The "Continental" breakfast was a egg tortilla with no additional ingredients, coffee, and a cup with watermelon. The only good thing was the staff. Horrible neighborhood the attached photos show the view from my room. I checked out after two nights and they refuse to reimburse us for any of the 11 nights we prepaid. They wanted us to move (again) from the Valencia to the Grand Royal. These places should be shut down. Conditions very unhealthy. I am reporting to the Cairo Tourism Police. See the photos of the view from our balcony. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

But as we have explained before to you that for your first night we had temporary problem at your room " In Grand Royal " and because we respect our customers we could not put you in a room with a problem so we have done this relocation to you at our sister hotel just for the first night until we fix the problem at your room in Grand Royal ." and you have accepted this relocation "" and that what exactly happened we called you next day as we agreed with you asking that you to return back to Grand Royal " with Complimentary Upgrade at Grand Royal . but you have mentioned " NO " as you will have only 2 nights in Cairo and after that you traveling to Luxor & Aswan ....etc . As your reservation was for 11 nights NON REFUNDABLE "" so it was not possible to cancel it free of charge as its simply non refundable . Concerning the photos you have shared its for Cairo Streets "" it has nothing to do with the hotel " you rather share at least one of the hotel room itself "" as you know and see the hotel itself is very clean , with all facility as you booked and no problem at all in our sister hotel Also please note that you can Not compare between first world to the third world city " Cairo is very high population 22 Million people live in Cairo so that’s mean of course we have NON clean places .so its Not fair to share this photos and mentioned that the hotel is dirty because you could Not take your money back for NON refundable booking so if your plan changed and you decide to travel to other city still money back not possible its the policy .

Nice hotel with shopping & food.facilities.
Good service personnel but misinterpreting of English language. Room cleanliness top. Fortunately I had a toothbrush & some toothpaste. No small table nor paper block to write notes & petty writings. Breakfast erratic with too much sugar. On the whole I don’t think that my friends would complain because my experiences of hotels in different parts of the world isn’t theirs. Anyway I’ll recommend my friends to book that hotel whenever they they go to Cairo.

Good Budget Hotel in a Fantastic Location
The Grand Royal Hotel is a perfect place to stay when travelling in Cairo on a budget. It’s found on the sixth floor of a building on Talaat Harb square which places it in a great, central location for touring. The bustling night life of Cairo surrounds you but the noise doesn’t carry into the rooms. The staff are very friendly and the breakfasts are simple but filling in a very Egyptian style. The hotel will offer to arrange various tours to the pyramids, Alexandria, and others, and although you can likely find less expensive alternatives, the convenience can be nice.

Amazing place amazing staff and amazing location
The staff was really nice and very helpful. And the owner and the general manager was always there taking care of business. And always there to help everyone with any questions. Location location location very important. The hotel is right in downtown Cairo, very easy to commute to any where in Cairo. I stayed there 2 different trips and I was very very pleased with the new renovations they done. The place look amazing. neat and clean.

Central location, friendly staff....be careful of!
We stayed in a room facing the street.It was very , very noisy all the time . Cars honking all the time ! The air quality was not good . Pollution can be seen , tasted, and smelled because of all the noisy cars! The windows in our room let in the noise and the pollution. Breakfast each morning consisted of a hard boiled egg, white bun, plain yogurt, cream cheese, and tea or coffee....it would have been nice to have some fruit or some othere change of menu. The bathroom had a hand held shower, which you had to hold all the time...no holder on the wall....very awkward! The water in the Grand is not good for drinking or even to use to brush your teeth... no bottled water was provided for us ..!The elevator was pretty scarry ...you had to be careful not to lean against the door ...You could lose or get something caught in it. The hotel is up on the 6th floor . It was hard to find from the street. Coming into the building was dissapointing .It was very dirty. Garbage littered all around ...it looked like it hadn't been swept or washed since it was built.The streels are very busy with people trying to con you to go to their shops...people hassle you alot .Becareful of purchasing any extra packages, tours...you might be charged too much ...beware! The streels are dirty as well....lots of stray dogs and cats ...very sad to see...lots of homeless people as well...lots of people including children begoing and following us......it was scarry. I didn't want to go in there stores !

Warning..! Hazardous to your health..!
The hotel deserves a much better rating because this hotel has the basic prerequisites to become a really great hotel; unfortunately, without a central HVAC - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning - system, the hotel will have a difficult challenge to meet acceptable living standards. Also, the building interior really needs the advice and guidance of an architect and a Commercial General Building Construction contractor in order to design and implement acceptable living standards. Public Health Inspection is needed in order to establish missing and necessary health standards.

Best location, clean, friendly and professional st
I stayed there for two nights, and then extended one more night. The building is quaint and comfortable.The manager and the staff was very friendly. I got help from a very informative lady who works in hotel all full schedule week; for visiting Cairo and Giza( the piramids and etc.), and also Lexur, Aswan, and Abu Simbel( all transportations and tours), Wifi and breakfast included.

Not a good experience
This "hotel" should more appropriately be placed in the category of a pension or boarding house. Although I had one staff member that was very helpful to me via Whatsapp, no other staff was around for housekeeping or other requests. Amenities consisted of one small towel, a roll of toilet paper and a bar of soap. The room was filthy but perhaps this was due to the fact that the hotel was under renovation at the time of my visit. Because of the construction, debris and paint fumes, I had to change hotels and Expedia refused to refund me. Very disappointed in Expedia.

Great location and excellent service
This hotel is in a prime location - walking distance to Tahrir Square, shopping, restaurants, the Egyptian Museum and more. Most importantly, our host Hussein was extremely helpful and attentive to our every need. We had not booked tours or cars beforehand and Hussein helped us to plan out our entire week very meticulously within an hour of checking in. Everything went very smoothly, we were very happy with the service, and I recommend this hotel.

Excellent Location and Great Value
I can't say enough about the welcoming staff, spacious, clean rooms, and helpful, friendly staff. They arranged pick up and departure from the airport, made lots of travel plans and everything went like clock work. I think this hotel is extremely good value. The location for walking to the Nile RIver, National Museum of Egyptian Art and many other shopping and dining pleasures are nearby in this downtown hotel. Madeline made all kinds of suggestions for trips and priced things out well ahead of my trip, making the vacation worry free and enjoyable. As a single experienced female traveler I loved the feeling that I mattered and that all arrangements went smoothly and I was not pressured to do anything I didn't want to do. I met lots of foreign travelers at the hotel during breakfast and excursions making this a lovely travel memory.

Very Bad Hotel, do not be fooled by the picture.
The Hotel was doing some renovation and still open for business there where no floors and hot water and no basic hotel room stuff.

Hotel Grand Royal, Cairo
When we arrived on the 17th November 2017 the reception area and foyer were knee deep in rubble and dust. The hotel was undergoing renovation and re-decoration works. We had to step around workers and their materials and avoid the freshly laid concrete ramp in the foyer to gain access to our bedroom . The bedroom and shower-room were cloaked in dust, the toilet didn't flush and there was only a very slow trickle of hot water from the bath tap. In the morning the cleaner served us our breakfast in the receptionist's absence. She had washed the coffee cups, plates and cutlery in the staff cloakroom basin using only cold water. When we returned to our bedroom at lunchtime we found painters were varnishing the door and had accessed our bedroom to store materials out on the balcony. When we complained we were then offered a room in the nearby Cairo Hotel which we accepted. Hopefully the works will be completed soon. I wish them luck.

Good place at a reasonable cost and friendly staff
At first I was taken aback a bit by the renovations going on but in a very short time saw as to how nice and clean my room was how comfortable the bed was and the personable service of the staff. They let me use their computer to check my emails without charge and of the services offered they were very knowledgeable and when an appointment is made for a taxi ride or a trip they were on time as promised. If one does mind a little plaster dust and construction debris this place is a good value .the front desk is right at the elevator exit and someone is always there I left my things there and felt they were very safe when I was out. The hotel is downtown in a touristy district so get used to the hawkers outside and the sound of traffic which to me was like music .

Unhygienic
Location good but Expedia picture not true reflection of hotel . Facilities very poor. Lifts dirty kitchen ditry had to repeatedly ask for clean towels.beds were uncomfortable lighting in bathroom and bedroom was extremely poor.

Scary place!!!
Entry into hotel was an absolute dive and if it had not been for my friends with me, there is no way l would have stayed the night!!! However the hosts were very pleasant and made us feel very welcome and thats the only positive thing l can say about this place.

Big Room and comfortable king size bed
I'm really happy about all the staff that works in this hotel they are amazing, the service is outstanding because they really care about the costumer especially when you are in a place where you don't know the language and you can fine people to help you and to take care of you. For me this is the most important thing to fine nice people arrown you. Thanks to all the Grand Royal Hotel Staff for all your help and amazing service.

Great location and inexpensive hotel (cheap) relative to other hotels in the area. This hotel is good for short stay to conclude business within the area.

Excellent budget hotel in Cairo city center
It was very nice stay in clean and comfort room in Grand Royal . Free wi fi and very friendly staff they were always there supporting me with information they helping me to arrange tour to pyramids and alexandria was big fun . I really enjoyed it

Beautiful Old School Hotel in great location
I had a wonderful time at this hotel. The rooms are high ceilinged, the service is wonderful, the windows are huge with beautiful views, the juices are delicious. I absolutely recommend staying here, few mins away from Egyptian Museum which is a great plus.

Absolute Rubbish!
Very unhappy with Hotels.com for the misleading pictures regarding this hotel. After my first night, had to fork out an additional £30 for another room which was still awful just slightly bigger. The manager mugged me into buying three tours which he says was on a discount but was 30-40% higher than local tour operators. They sent me emails regarding tours a week before I travelled, after I paid for three tours, noticed the price were higher than what they quoted a week earlier with the annoying emails. The tours had lunch included but had to pay for two. The manager did not even offered to pay me back on the overspend. The Suez Canal tour was awful. I paid £60 just for a 5 hour cab ride. No canal tour whatsoever. Room was disgusting. No TV, no toiletries, no room service! Every day someone came in and just dusted off the surface of the duvet... swapped the two pillows round and cover the holes in the bed sheet. The next day they would turn the mattress back to front along with the bedsheet, etc. No bed linen was changed. Breakfast included but everyday was 1 cold boiled egg, a tub of yogurt, 1 bread with a tub of butter and jam each with a hot drink. No change in the 7 nights I stayed. The country was lovely but the hotel spoilt my holiday. Apologies for the long review but if it helps another customer from spoiling their holiday, then this is worth the while. Hotels.com, you should investigate yourself. My rating for this hotel would be a disgusting 1/10.

Cheap hotel but the location is very good.
The hotel is located at a very good location. You will find the Vodafone shop near the hotel. Lots of travel agency around that place offering cheap prices for various tours and sightseeing. The hotel offers very expensive price for the same tour packages. The staff are just fine. Not much to expect as it's a cheap hotel.

Never to stay again
The stuffs were assertive to convince me to buy optional tours. My room was terribly dirty . Wifi is unstable. Breakfast was poor. The location was great but I will never use the room again.

Excellent location...2nd time to use it. If you only need a comfy bed and a shower. I don't need amenities so it was the perfect place for me. Great price. Very nice staff. Go for it
