Not acceptable of a Le Meridien

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Absolutely everything expected of a Le Meridien!
Location: Sightseeing for the pyramids.
Location is convenient to sightseeing, the staff is friendly, and the sheets are clean. The rest was terribly disappointing. And not at all worth the price. The upholstery is old and filthy. WiFi is close to non-existent and not free in your room. I don't know that they should advertise WiFi as a facility, let alone demand payment for it, because even the paid for version was quite sad. The food is substandard at best. The staff, while pleasant and friendly, seem to need updated training. For instance, they cannot explain the bills they ask you to sign for room service. The beds are uncomfortable and lumpy. What was really annoying to me was that this hotel comes with a Le Meridien price tag but only meets the standards of a 3 Star hotel. If I was paying for a 3 Star hotel, I'd have no complaints. But having paid so much more, I am quite disappointed. Whether you are looking for a basic hotel or a fancy one, I recommend you book elsewhere so you can get a decent value for your money.

Dear M. Shivani, Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa. I would, first of all, like to reiterate my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and upset you were caused. I would also like to apologize for the fact that the internet connection is not up to the standard. Our services are currently provided by a third party, which was contracted a number of years ago. This contract is, however about to terminate and I do assure you that we are actively perusing alternative options, which will enable us to offer this service to our clients in future at a substantially improved connection speed. You may be interested to know that hotel is about to undergo a comprehensive refurbishment program and that the hotel has recently engaged the service of a Training Director who has considerable international experience. His role will focus on improving the quality of services offered to our guests, particularly in Food & Beverage. It is my hope that these events will not permanently mar your opinion of our hotel and that you will return to us again, when I am sure you will remember your stay for all the right reasons. Nice hotel close to the Giza Pyramids

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: The beds. The view of the pyramids.
Cons: Cleanliness. Carpet should be replaced.
Location: Giza Pyramids are nearby. Some restaurants.
The beds are great and so is the room service food. Wifi only works in the lobby and it is sloooooow, not even worth trying to use it. Apparently you can pay to have wifi in your room but I didn't use it. The breakfast buffet that is included is so-so. A very busy hotel with lots of tourists and wedding parties.

Good Location

Posted Nov 19, 2016
Pros: location and a level of comfort is very important. this hotel has both.
Cons: The senior staff and management are very good, but the younger staff have no idea about service. this could be improved.
Location: All the important sites are located between 30 - 40 mins travel time, which is a real bonus
I have stayed at this hotel many times. It has a great location being very near to Saqqara, Giza and Dashur, this saves an hour each day, crawling through the Cairo traffic and of course the smog caused by the weight of traffic. The Egyptians are not known for there spacial awaeness in hotels, emptying dishwashers and clearing tables is a high priority, instead of selling drinks at the bar and serving coffee for breakfast.

Good service overall, old stuff in the room

Posted Nov 6, 2016
Location: Good location with nice view of Giza piramids. And close to shops by taxi.
Room was ok, tobacco and cigarette terrible smell, old boxy TV's and old carpet. Hotel staff very good, and nice facilities, swimming pool only works during day time should improve that. Customers smoke all over the hotel not friendly for non-smokers, for instance not recomendable for families. There is no smokers section but instead there is non smokers section 👎 .

Dear Mr. Giovanni, Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa. Your kind comments regarding our hotel are very much appreciated. As you may know, smoking is not banned in Egypt, however your comments are under discussion and wherever possible, we will arrange for providing non-smoking areas in different places of the hotel. Regarding the old TV sets, we have completed renovation of 50% of our hotel bedrooms, during which obviously the TV sets have been upgraded and the renovation of the remaining bedrooms will be carried out in the near future. Looking forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future. Yours sincerely,

Though tipping in Egypt is part of their culture..

Posted Nov 3, 2016
Location: Pyramids, Giza necropolis. The Hotel pool is fantastic and the chefs are absolutely superb! Just a few shops in the hotel that are good for a gift.
Though tipping in Egypt is part of their culture, it has evolved and escalated to the point of an enormously irritating nuisance in Egypt. People seem to be friendly and helpful only if you pay them. Pure human kindness seems to have been lost. Hotel staff aren't quite as bad as day-to-day Egyptians but there is still an undercurrent of the "tipping culture" that distracts from the kind and gracious nature of Egyptians. Water in the room went from scalding to cool many times during a shower. Views from some room ls are the very best around! I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. I did speak to hotel staff about the hot and cold water problem. If they fix this problem I would give this hotel a much much higher rating.

Good for access to the pyramids.

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Pros: The pool and poolside facilities were excellent. Security was good. Go and see the Pyramid Light Show - excellent for all the family.
Cons: No entertainment in the evenings and pool closed early. Our room did not have a view of the pyramids or the pool - very disappointing.
Location: Excellent for accessing the pyramids and the sphinx, but a long way from the centre of Cairo as traffic is heavy and so the going is slow.
You need to get a room with a pyramid view otherwise you will be disappointed. Food inside the hotel is expensive (£11 for a breakfast is more expensive than some London hotels) but the food is plentiful - except quite limiting if your children are fussy eaters.
