Epitome of Hospitality

Pros: The breakfast was quite comprehensive, the view - to die for, the staff - on point! Particularly Mr Saeed.
Cons: Can't think of anything from the top of my head.
Location: The location is ideal for peaceful relaxation, the view magnificent for photos of the Nile and night skyline.
This was my first time travelling to Egypt. I was escorted by my wife, on our honeymoon. We had plenty of doubts, but once we managed to check into our room, we started looking forward to the whole experience :)

Great BUT....

Checking in and out was quick, hospitable and professional staff. Resturants in the hotel overseeing the Nile are great. Downside, though, is getting in and out from the hotel through the main gate. It's only one way, and it wasn't comfortable at all cuz of the traffic, and the the time you'd waste waiting for your ride.

Club room

A great stay in the club room. Although, the 'happy hour' was only 5.30-7.30 and they said we were only allowed three drinks each! Lovely pool and really relaxing atmosphere!

Probleme : Le doorman nous fait payer le taxi, venat de la rue, 5 fois plus cher que le prix normal. Indecent pour un Sofitel. Une mafia....

A good hotel but has a lot Prostitutes In his lobby. I hope the hotel fix this problem. The problem makes me angry.

I enjoyed every single moment of it! Best views of the Nile, great variety of food, friendly staff who greet you with a warm welcome .. Amazing facilities, and excellent location within Cairo I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to live an exceptional Egyptian adventure

Decent Cairo hotel on the island

Pros: Kababgy restaurant at the hotel and on the Nile river. ATM machine in the lobby. Belal the doorman will give you great service and tips
Cons: Needs complete renovation. Sliding door needs a screen. Do not open the balcony door at night, otherwise insects will invade the room.
Location: Opera station metro and Sporting Club within walking distance. Cairo Museum and Tahrir Square just across the Kasr El Nile bridge.
About 30 mins from the airport with no traffic. About 15 mins to the Ramses train station to go to Alexandria and other destinations (book early at the station). Nice restaurants and outdoor setting right on the Nile river although the better food is at Kababgy where they make fresh Shamy bread. Nice views of Cairo from your balcony so book a high floor. Zamalek nearby with lots of dining choices. Be sure to try El Pasha restaurant. There are different restaurants on the boat with different cuisines. Be sure to try the classic Egyptian restaurant. Food is delicious and service is great. One of the best views on the Nile river. Try to go before sunset then stay untill night to see boats and Cairo lights. Also there is a musician playing the Ouad (arabic string instrument). Say hi to Magued the Owner/Manager.
