The smell of cigarettes was pervasive in the room keeping me from getting to sleep for hours. The breakfast was good and the other parts of the hotel were OK.

I came in fairly late after a white water canoeing trip in Canada, and they took good care of me.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at.

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Staff, location, cleanliness, comfort, accomodation, parking, internet, and price all were great at this hotel.
Cons: Perhaps a slightly larger room and an iron would be greatly appreciated as clothes get wrinkled in bags.
Location: Very close to eating area, walmart, and gas station. Great location.
This was one of the best hotels because the staff was courteous and nice, the necessary items were all provided and room was organized well and above all it was very clean and comfortable. The price was good but the overall location and service was the best part. Thank you sincerely to the hotel staff.

A decent "value" pick in Watertown

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Clean, free wifi, comfortable bed, breakfast
Cons: Level of housekeeping, some fixtures are old and could be replaced.
Location: The Watertown area is mostly dominated by Fort Drum but there is a mall and many restaurants nearby, as well as parks, fishing, and natural beauty.
Considering that the Microtel charges half the rate of any of the "name brand" hotels in Watertown, we were a little wary of what we might find on arriving. Happily, we were pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff is competent and ready to help. The rooms our entire group of 13 had reserved were all clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and bedding was fresh and clean. Housekeeping consists of emptying trash and fresh towels (we stayed for 4 nights, not sure at what point they would change bedding). The fridge in our room worked fine and we used it for our own drinks. Our room was by an exit door so we dealt with noise some nights, and one evening there were some loud guests coming through the hallways. There is free wifi throughout the hotel (on an open network so use caution). Coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the lobby/breakfast area. Free breakfast in the morning was more than adequate, and offered different items every morning. During our stay we had pancakes w/ bacon, waffles w/ sausage, english muffin sandwiches with egg and sausage patties, and sausage biscuit sandwiches. Every morning there was juice, fruit, yogurt, bread and bagels for toasting, and milk/cereal. Breakfast was a busy time but the staff kept everything running smoothly and well stocked. If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay in the Watertown area and want to save a few bucks the Microtel is probably a good choice.

Great price and good location.

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Check into the key-card deactivation- I didn't have it near any phones or credit cards.
Location: We went to Watertown, Calcium Nature Trail, Clayton for a boat tour of Bolt Castle and Heart Island, Thompson Park Zoo and local eateries.
I booked through Expedia and got a great price on this hotel for a weekend get away. It was very close to many local sites that we wanted to visit and found it very convenient. They offered free WiFi and Continental Breakfast which was great when trying to get out the door in the morning to explore the area. The staff was friendly and I didn't really have any concerns or troubles except the key card kept de-magnetizing itself. Staff was easily approached to solve this problem as it occurred.

Great value for money

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Nice clean rooms with refrigerator and microwave, good breakfast and good value for money.
Location: 1000 Islands in Alexandria Bay about 30 mins drive from hotel, Southwick Beach about 30 mins drive from hotel.
I visited 1000 Islands with my family and stayed at Microtel. Although the hotel is quite far from Alexandria Bay, it provided great value for money. The rooms were clean and has Refrigerator and Microwave in the room. The breakfast was very good. There are limited attractions nearby. I visited 1000 Islands in Alexandria Bay which was about 30 mins drive from the hotel. I also visited Southwick Beach about 30 mins drive from the hotel. The beach is very nice and clean.

Going on trip with my dog to Thousand Islands

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: calm peaceful
Cons: When McDonald's opens their inside order . I waited outside with the other vehicles and ordered on foot. No problems.
Location: Don't know
Went to look at real estate in three mile bay, and put down an offer down. The Ontario Lake is clean and beautiful but to ruff for my kayak and dogs to swim in.

Nice hotel, have been staying there since 1990'd

Posted Aug 15, 2015
Hotel close to everything... clean with good AC. Staff were and are always very nice.. my son and I enjoy the breakfasts (french toast, pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, yogurt etc.... menu varies but for avid shoppers like us, the variety of included breakfasts are always appreciated and enjoyed) I've been staying at Microtel since early 1990's and have always had a positive experience... it's perfectly located to shopping and restaurants.... beds are comfortable and linnens always crisp and white... It will continue to be our go to hotel for years to come.... We just came back from a week vacation and our hotel was once again enjoyable and a positive experience!
