construction

Posted Nov 5, 2017
If I had know about the construction at time of booking I would not have stayed. Room was very outdated. Purple walls and green curtains were very ugly. My son walked in and said "the Barney room". Over loaded extension cords seemed unsafe with appliances. Mismatched furniture. Over all low quality for this brand.

Maybe it will be better in the future

Posted Nov 1, 2017
Pros: The room was nice and clean.
Cons: Better windows, fresh (not stale) breakfast, better customer service, no construction, doors that work properly.
Location: The location is right off the interstate, and there's room for trailer parking. If skydiving is your kind of thing, there's an airport nearby too.
I've stayed here many times over the last few years, and this time was by far the worst and most disappointing. The lobby is under construction again... yay! The door to the pool was extremely hard to open for the poor mother that was trying to take her kids swimming. She was told to lift the door. There was a long line at the front desk, and I understand that it takes time to check people in, but boy, the computer was slow this go round. I went up to my room, and one of the new locks across the hall was beeping constantly. As my crew and I were about to head to dinner, I figured I would stop at the front desk and ask about the beeping lock. The receptionist was dealing with another customer, so I patiently waited until she was done (which took way longer than it should have, but okay, slow computers I guess). When I informed her about the issue, she said something along the lines of "I don't know if you noticed the long line of people when you got here, but I'll get to it when I can okay?" I tried to explain to her I understood, and was only trying to help, but I guess she didn't appreciate that. She was rude enough, that my crew mentioned how rude she was to me on our way to dinner. The windows block absolutely no sound, which I discovered when I was woken up by firetrucks on the interstate at 5:30 AM. Pair all of this with the fact that breakfast was old and stale and you have an unhappy customer. I usually love the egg omelets here too. The room was nice and clean though.

Hotel is being remodeled. It's a mess!!

Posted Oct 22, 2017
Pros: Not one thing!
Cons: Too many things to list here
Location: Stay at the Best Western across the street.
Asked for refund once we saw our room. They were changing out locks; so construction workers drilling doors. Room was basement level, tiny and dark (for $129.00!!!!!!). Entire property is a mess and they should not be open to the public. Apparently, corporate offices will not allow them to disclose the condition of the property.

I appreciate your concern for the staff and other guests. I’m sure everyone affected is thankful that this entire experience is in the rear view mirror. The renovations are currently just in the lobby. So guest amenities and guest rooms are unaffected. It would be cost prohibitive to close just for lobby renovations. Thank you for the feedback.

Under construction

Posted Oct 19, 2017
We did not realize the hotel was being renovated when we booked. The lobby was torn apart and the drywall dust everywhere. Our room had been renovated but the halls and common areas needed a lot of work. The machine to produce the room keys was broken so we could not get a key to our room and had to be let in by the night clerk. The staff did their best to accommodate us but it was disappointing after a long day of driving.

Filthy! Seriously disgusting pool, hot tub!

Posted Oct 18, 2017
Pros: Nothing
Cons: CLEAN IT!!!
This hotel was awful. Under construction and dirt and debris everywhere. The pool was so nasty I had to take my kids out as soon as we went in, which of course was a nightmare as they had been driving all day and had been waiting to swim. Hot tub had a layer of oil/grease on top and a thick rim around the edge. Water was murky in both. Room was semi clean but overall feel was just nasty.

No elevator

Posted Oct 9, 2017
Pros: Pets stay free, room
Cons: Lack of elevator should provide guests with options when they have a lot to carry.
I was passing through Caldwell on a cross country drive with 2 cats. This wasn't the nicest La Quinta I've stayed in and I personally wouldn't stay there again. The room itself was great. Very spacious and nicely updated with a fridge and microwave. But the building was like a rundown motel. The main issue I had was there was no elevator. Having 2 cats with me, that was incredibly frustrating since I had a lot of stuff to bring up to the room. The front desk offered no real solution since the main level rooms were all taken and didn't seem to understand why no elevator would be annoying. After seeing the options I wish the front desk had offered a lower level room (the building is a split level set up) since there were fewer steps going down there. As others have mentioned there are renovations going on. I thought by the time I'd gotten there they'd be mostly done but the hallways are still a mess and the lobby area was constant banging from the tile floor being torn up. It is also far from the main city area so finding food took longer than I expected. There is a Burger King and a coffee place next door but that's it. Everything else is a few miles away. It is right off the Interstate which is convenient for a long road trip and the breakfast is typical of La Quinta.

We apologize for the lack of an elevator. Unfortunately, we can't install one in the existing building until we expand. Staff is always willing to assist when needed or when main floor rooms are sold out. Thank you again for the feedback. We're working hard to make a better hotel for our valued guests.
