When I checked in the room was about 14DegC... Turned heating on the radiators and had to go out due to the cold room.
Came back 3 hours later and the room was still freezing.
Had to ask for heating to be turned back on and used a hair dryer to heat the room. 2/10.
Admittedly a three-star hotel but still disappointing. The staff were friendly and helpful but the first impression was that they seemed overwhelmed. This was borne out by the fact that there was no room cleaning service because they were short staffed. The Wi-Fi didn't work in different parts of the hotel, which was very annoying. A convenient location for walking into Cambridge and getting to the boathouses but very little else to commend it. Management will have to do better.
They say "you can't go back", and often I've found it to be a mistake. But I used to stay at the Arundel House years... 25?... ago, and it is associated with happy memories of the music at St John's, took a chance. Both the hotel and the choir delivered in full. // I doubt there is a better-placed hotel for visiting the town. I have experienced worse, when the Arundel house had no rooms!
Very poor value for money. Extremely tired premises, dreadful soundproofing and non existent wifi.
I have never stayed anywhere that never changed or refreshed the cups and tea / coffee / milk when staying for 2 nights.
Shocking for £189 per night.
Hotel dated with no lifts to reach 4th floor.
Had explained i had a nobility issue when booking but was given room on 4th floor with narrow staircase and dangerously low hand rails. No offer of assistance.
