Disappointing service, could do better

It would have been good to know in advance by email that the road to the hotel was closed from 8 pm and how to access it, there should have been a notice telling hotel guests to access through the roadworks. The sofa bed wasn't comfortable, it's mattress v thin and we had 2 cups when they knew 3 were staying. Our room key stopped working on the second night and I had to run up and down 3 times before I was told to use the phone on the landing. The lift stopped working. Drinks were a Rip Off price and staff at the pub that's linked to it next door couldn't be bothered to put ice and lemon in the gin And tonic. Considering we were going to a funeral it would have been nice to be given common courtesies whereas I didn't think some staff were bothered. Breakfast was good but the fresh fruit was old.

Convenient for Saffron Walden, Duxford, Cambridge

Pros: Positioning for our needs in Cambridge and S.Walden
Cons: Bedside light faulty. Room not serviced on 3rd day of our stay. No beds made, no towels replaced and a large stain on carpet.
Location: Duxford War Museum and Audley End.
Felt as though we were anonymous! Basic Hotel with little to recommend it. I have, though, stayed in far worse places who call themselves "Hotels"!

Good location

Pros: Helpful staff, good location, free ample parking
Cons: More fresh items for breakfast buffet, a selection of fruit and veg
Location: Steps from a train station, 20 min to Cambridge and about 1 hour to London's Liverpool Street Station
Beside train station and the main road, can be noisy, especially in early morning.

First time with Holiday Inn group

Pros: Proximity to places we wished to visit
Cons: On the day we arrived our key cards wouldn't work, so every time we wanted to get into our room we had to get someone from reception to come up .
Location: Previously commented on
Excellent proximity to the IWM at Duxford. We had a room overlooking the station, so with the window open it was a little noisy, but it had very efficient air conditioning to cool the room. Lovely shower cubicle, and plenty of hot water.

Close to Duxford IWM.

Good basic hotel, clean and comfortable. One downside - some rooms overlook the railway station and are close to a main road, so there is some noise.

Nice & close to the imperial war museum(air)

Pros: Very clean, comfortable with excellent staff'
Cons: The card/key access to our rooms was playing up & the staff were run ragged letting us in & out(top marks to them) so maybe a better access system...
Location: I only came to visit the imperial war museum(Air) & the airborne assault museum ' they were only a five minute drive away-so all was great for me'....
Staff were great & food'n'drink, reasonable price'

Good value hotel for a one night stay in Cambridge

Stayed here for one night in a group of three. The room was clean but with the sofa bed out, the room was rather cramped and we couldn't use the desk. There was a tea/coffee making facility. No fridge. Bathroom was nice, good water pressure. The room was warm even when we turned the heating down, which was very loud by the way. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, hot and cold options available. Staff were attentive. Cambridge city centre is about 20-30 minutes drive away depending on traffic.
