Interesting Stay at Whittlesford Parkway

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Pros: Proximity to railway station and cleanliness.
Cons: The room was cold and noisy because on side of hotel next to road.
Location: Pleasant setting but not much round it. Close enough to Duxford and the Imperial War Museum but you need own transport or a taxi to get there.
Overall the hotel is typical of a Holiday Inn Express but as it is close to railway line and a very busy dual carriageway it could do with some triple glazing. The link up with the Red Lion is good but expensive meals and slow service.

very satisfied

I felt that the hotel was very good value for money. It was clean, friendly staff and a good breakfast included. The train station was close so it was easy to get into the city of Cambridge without worrying about finding parking.

Business stay in August 2016

Posted Aug 31, 2016 on Hotels
the hotel is right next to the railway so does have some noise issues - although earplugs are provided by them! Also I find the cooked breakfast very limited. They only have one cooked breakfast - scrambled egg, sausage and bacon. The won't do anything different (I like boiled eggs) for an expensive rate hotel I find this poor service - but this is common right across Holiday Inn Expresses and I have had ore choice in cheaper hotels.

Visiting family

Posted Aug 31, 2016
Pros: location was perfect for visiting family living in Whittlesford. I even liked the proximity to and activity of the train station. Breakfast was great
Cons: The pillows could use a total revamp. Add more places to hang towels. Use better mattress covers. Add luggage racks so bags aren't on the floor.
I came for a funeral, so don't think you want to hear about that. Generally hotel was lovely, fresh and clean. Breakfast area was lovely and gave the 6 of us a place to gather and be together. Breakfast selections totally satisfying 6 different appetites. The staff had no idea the notice in the room said that wash cloths were available at the desk and looked totally baffled at the question. Staff were most helpful in arranging for taxis when needed - that was wonderful.
