It is showing its age, the public area does smell and the hotel even put air fresher in the elevator and hallway. As a 2-star hotel, Fireside Inn is fine. But for the price I paid, it is not worth it at all.

Peaceful and lovely place. A balcony with the view of the ocean and stars and fireplace were especially amazing. Cozy bed, clean enough bathroom, and giant TV added to making this hotel a wonderful accommodation. I also was happy to learn dogs and cats can stay in certain rooms.

We have stayed at this property several times now, and every time we have a very pleasant stay! The facilities are very comfortable, the grounds are beautiful (waterfront view), the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the location is very convenient for exploring points north and south along the coast.

It was very clean and with a nice view. The pool was warm and that is not of the case this time of year in Maine. It’s a little dated, but the bed was comfortable.

The morning staff was rude. My daughter and I entered the pool at 8am. We were the only one's there until 8:45 when the morning manager came and told us to get out, because it was adults only for the next 15 min. I offered to leave if anyone came and that it was only 15 minutes. He refused to negotiate and was very rude. Odd policy to bar children from the pool during the first hour of the day, whoever planned that has never traveled with kids. Will never go back

Way over priced . Nothing like the smell of wet carpet when you walk in the door. Toliet would not stop running when you flush it. The view of harbor is nice but not 260.00 a night nice.

So there's no fitness room, and no breakfast, but the place is amazing. Every room has a balcony overlooking the bay. The huge backyard, for lack of a better term also has a deck, and there's plenty of room to roam, relax, or hit the water when the weather is better. We were there in November, and saw some guy doing the polar plunge. But there's an indoor heated pool, and hot tub so you can enjoy the water year round. The lobby has plenty of goodies for sale at reasonable for a hotel prices. There's coffee, including a flavor of the day (maple when we went) and a Nespresso machine that will give you pretty much whatever you want. I can't recomment this place enough.

The view was beautiful. The furnishings and carpet are 30 years over due for replacement. There was such a foul odor that they had large air fresheners in the elevators. For the price of this hotel they should also offer some type of breakfast.

Clean, large room.
Room was clean with lots of amenities. Large bathroom/ firm bed. Didn’t get a chance to use the fireplace but would be great to take off the winter chill.

I am disappointed to say that the redeeming quality of this hotel is the view. The idea was to relax on the lawn or our private balcony and enjoy the view of the water. Unfortunately, and this of course is no fault of the hotel, the weather did not cooperate with us. We ended up in the room a good chunk of time when we were not out exploring food, shopping, and touristy options. The hotel is fairly run down. The lobby was like a sauna when we first stopped to see if the room was available. We used a restroom off the lobby that honestly felt like someone’s personal restroom. There was a room right there with many pairs of shoes crowding the entry. This made it seem that someone might live there, even though they may have been trying to avoid tracking something into the room. The elevator and lobby had smells that were not just the chlorine from the pool. There was no restaurant, which we did know when booking, but many of the restaurants were either closed for the season or closed permanently. The hotel still had these places listed, even the permanently closed ones, listed in a brochure they offer. The beds were not really comfortable and there should be some updating in the room, even touch ups to freshen things so it does not look so dated. There was a mess on the wall in the room that was still present from a previous guest. It appeared it was coffee or cola that splattered when it was put in the trash. We let the desk know. I would not likely stay here again.

They were doing some activities on the floor and did not want to track dirt into the room. We apologize that this made the bathroom area feel uncomfortable.We apologize for the restaurant brochure stating incorrect information. We believe you may have accidentally gotten an old brochure that had not been updated. We have made sure that all brochure's out front have the updated information.We apologize for the stain on the wall. This was passed along to our head housekeeper after checkout.We are constantly trying to improve our rooms. Despite its relativel "larger" size, this hotel was a delight from parking availability, room layout & features, friendly staff & true dog friendliness. Worst thing to deal with? The elevator had a funky, moldy smell. Wish the adjoining restaurant was in operation. The view and shoreline access is amazing.

The stay was very nice but I was quite surprised that there were charges for every individual item in the dining area, since many other hotels provide a complimentary breakfast with many more items than offered at your hotel.

A very nice hotel on the ocean
We traveled to Belfast to go to the Common Ground Fair. Fireside Inn sits on the ocean with all the rooms facing the Belfast harbor channel. Check in was quick. Our room was spotless with a beautiful view and a small porch to sit. The AC unit was the quietest I have heard from an in-room unit. We had a standard 2 queen room. There was adequate room for our overnight bags. The bedding was supportive and comfortable. We plan to go to the fair next year. And we will stay at the Fireside again.

There were small specks of black on both beds' sheets. Not a big deal but we were surprised by them. It was very warm in the room. We discovered the heat was on 77 & the thermostat was locked. we were so tired we just went to sleep & we all slept well. Otherwise, we would have called the front desk. We really liked the pool and hot tub.

The room assigned has a patio door. The door lock did not work and the room would have easily accessible by anyone. The desk staff seemed surprised that we wanted another room or have it fixed right away. The room should have been checked prior to assigning anyone to the room.
