Wintersports are the name of the game at Canada Olympic Park just outside Calgary. But if you’re visiting in summer, don’t worry, there’s still plenty to do! When winter cloaks the slopes in white, it’s time for skiing, snowboarding, bobsled rides, ice hockey and skating. Keep an eye out for professional athletes who train here. If your own skills on the skis need a little brushing up, there are plenty of lessons to give you a helping hand. Weekend skiing and snowboarding camps are available for the very advanced to give polish to your style. The park provides a multitude of training and activities for kids too. There’s a spiderweb climb, rock-climbing wall, harness bungee, skating, mountain biking and ice hockey lessons, and recreational camps.Summer gives you the opportunity to take part in kids’ bungee, indoor ice skating, mini golf and luge rides. Ride dozens of downhill mountain bike trails for all skill levels and then take the lifts back to the top. Enjoy the view from North America’s fastest zip line ride as you descend from the top of the ski jump tower. You’ll hit speeds of up to 87 miles (140 kilometers) per hour over the 1,600-foot (500-meter) line, which has a vertical drop of more than 300 feet (100 meters). Drop in to the Canada Sports Hall of Fame, featuring galleries and interactive displays, celebrating the achievements of more than 520 athletes. Canada Olympic Park is located just off the TransCanada Highway at the Bowfort Road intersection. It’s easiest to get there by taxi or rented car.
