"Charming Hotel in superb central location."
Stayed as a couple last weekend in September 2016. First time in Amsterdam and it was a fantastic experience ( we will be back ! ). Hotel is a 10 / 15 minute walk from the main train station and is situated right next to the canal. Easy walking distance to museums, cafes, bars etc etc Staff are superb and very welcoming - a real asset to the hotel. Our room was cosy and comfortable and had a nice view of the canal. The free bar and snacks in the lounge area are a truly brilliant idea, before arrival we did not think we would spend much time in the lounge but it provides a perfect place to unwind after seeing the sights and gives you chance to rest your feet before plotting your next move. Breakfast with live cooking was great and the chef was super friendly. I think the best thing I can say about our stay is that the next time we visit ( hopefully Spring 17 ) we will stay at Banks Mansion without question as it was such a great experience. If you book to stay here you will not regret it.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Canal Ring Carlton Hotel Collection Hotels

The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
