convenient to shops & attractions

Posted Jan 22, 2016
Pros: Location. This stay was through an excellent price deal, which made staying here an excellent option.
Cons: Pillows too hard. Tap tops needed tightening to avoid falling off. The screws in the bathroom door handle needed tightening. Cobwebs in windows.
Location: Great location for Civic shops & dining precinct. Very close to War Memorial.
As always this property has an air of days long past. Staff are friendly & efficient. Heritage Rooms are a little on the small side. The bathrooms have been modernised. Generally very comfortable for a short stay.

Great hotel with excellent Location

Posted Jan 16, 2016
Pros: Location and comfortable bed and staff.
Cons: Nothing. This hotel, while modern, is very old, so a lift cannot be added. Steps turned out fine really.
Location: Having been to Canberra a few times, we only wanted to walk to & down Anzac Parade & visit War Museum. City shops also close.
There are no lifts in this hotel, which was disappointing. Got use to the steps so all okay. Hotel located within walking distance of Anzac Parade, War Museum and city shops. Room had two king beds, which were very comfortable. Hotel room very pleasant and staff excellent. Good breakfast that we paid for at $18. Would definitely recommend the hotel, unless you cannot do steps. We were on the 3rd floor, but really only 2 lots of steps to climb. My husband had to carry out bags though reception did offer to get help. I cannot do steps easily,, but managed these quite well. Thank you Mecure.

Canberra revisited

Posted Dec 29, 2015
Pros: Very old buildings, remodelled rooms, somewhat small but convenient.
Cons: Wifi was 3rd world, should be free as most hotels are.
Location: The hotel was chosen as it was within walking distance to the War Memorial and ANZAC Parade. Close to city centre with plenty of restaurants.
We used the hotel as a base for visits to the above. Easy walking to City Centre. We did not use the hotel dining room.

Great location for War Memorial

Cannot fault this hotel. Check in/out staff very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. All other hotel staff very friendly. Easy to walk to AWM and to city centre. Very handy when you don't have a car.

Room was nice, tidy and big enough for a little sitting area. Would have liked one over looking the grassed area, though I got the special so for the price the room was good. Room service prices were very affordable as well.

Hotel with Australian feel.

Great staff. We were upgraded to room with balcony and able to have fresh air rather than only air con. Good restaurant but offered only 2or 3 course meals. Hotel close to good range of eateries and shopping mall. Liked Australian paintings of past historical events. Good parking. Overall a great hotel.

Great place to stay

Posted Nov 6, 2015
Pros: Awesome location, so close to everything. Walking distance to the city and shops.
Location: So close to the city, Questacon only a short cab ride away and the War memorial. Easy drive to Cockington Gardens and local shops for food
We loved our stay at Mercure, the staff were lovely and the loft was really spacious.
