We came back again the same time this year. Food definitely improved. The bartenders at the pool bar are second to none. Geovanny & Roberto(?). I didn't need or want to upgrade this year... had a room on the 5th floor with an amazing view. the beach is phenomenal. Ocean is amazing. The restaurant service is great also, but went across the street twice to lorenzillos and limoncello (recommended) just to get away for an hour or 2. If you hit the buffet, go to the pasta station in the middle and add what you want. The girl and the guy chefs in that grill area are amazing also...Circle bar near the front desk is good also. I think it should have more of a feel to it though. Maybe some music playing, acoustic act maybe? I also think the Rock night was great... the band was great. Should do it more nights. The cafe guys were great! Marina (server on the beach) is beyond nice.

Unorganized, Rude Staff, Dangerous,

Pros: This hotel in my opinion in Dangerous and kids should not be going there
We checked into the resort after staying 5 days at Hotel Paradisus (which we loved) The resort had good reviews and for the price (Over 500CND per night) we expected a fantastic experience. Well... Lets start at the beginning. When you get to the resort you are given a Key card for towels. U have to keep exchanging your towels to get fresh ones, and you're expected to bring down your DIRTY used towels to the front desk upon check out. This is gross and Ive stayed at dozens of 5star resorts around the world, this is the only one that asks this of their guest. So I hope you're comfortable with being a maid on Vacation, and hopefully one takes your towel at the beach, because you will be charged 25 per towel. There was a small fight in the pool, and people being vulgar infornt of my 9 year old daughter, talking about sex and things kids don't need to know about. The hotel security did nothing, so I politely asked them to be "mindful of their language infront of my daughter" They called me a B*tch and crappy mom for allowing my daughter to an adult resort. ITS A FAMILY RESORT!! They started flipping out because they had to much to drink, called my kid a liar, then I went to find a manager who requested hotel security to be present at the pool, but did nothing. When the group was leaving they were humping a tree on the way out, yelling profanity all infront of people and our kids. We requested security to walk with us as we did not want this to happen again. That was a hassle

Nice resort, easy to navigate.

Great stay, 2nd time staying here. Not much nightlife. Also they must have something against playing music after 9pm. None of the bars have music at all which makes the atmosphere a bit boring.

Royal Tower

Pros: Cleanliness, friendly staff.
Cons: The food and coffee quality. Cafe Sole had great coffee however.
Location: Close to both shopping malls, clubs and restaurants if you want to get off the resort. Honestly you have everything you need on the resort.
My girlfriend and I stayed in the Royal Tower (we upgraded from Deluxe Room, totally worth the extra cost), with beach front view on the bottom floor. Our patio was right on the beach and you could hop the fence right onto the beach (which is what I did). Amazing views of the sunrise. Room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff was friendly. Jaime, the tower's butler, was charismatic, kind and helpful. He really enhanced our stay and made us feel welcome. Cabanas on the beach are a must. You have to reserve them per each day. Alejandra at the front desk made checking in a smooth process. All other staff were willing to help and were very friendly. Food was okay. Continental breakfast was exclusive in the lounge for Royal Tower guests. Good for quick light breakfast, but not much to choose from. Would recommend just going to the buffet for breakfast. Our favorite restaurant was La Concha (Tex-Mex). Would definitely come back to this resort!

Our stay at Grand Park Royal

Beautiful hotel, very clean and accommodating staff. My biggest issue is the lack of chairs around the pool and on the beach. I don't want to get up at 6 am everyday just to save a chair!

Pros: On the beach. The food and the drinks are included!
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Location: Most anywhere along the beach you can't go wrong. Beautiful place.
We booked a king bed room and got two double beds. They switched us the next day when a king became available. Beautiful place! The staff were very nice.

One Year Later

Pros: The location is good.
Cons: The rugged rock walk ways should be replaced with stamped concrete or something..... the rock stairs to the beach are a challenge.
Location: Location is good.
Last year we stayed at this hotel and it was a good budget experience. This year things have gone down and there were issues everyday. Things from non working internet to no premium liquor after daily allotment runs out. Red flags entire stay both last year and this year due to hotel location and water currents. Pool too cold to swim or even sit at pool bar. And no change in either US dollars or Pecos for 4 days. I am afraid I would not return again to this hotel due to issues experienced.

On the beach.

Pros: Alma on the beach was attentive to our drink needs and the bartender on the rooftop lounge was fabulous.
Cons: food-food-food Even the buffet was lacking variety unless you wanted pasta. The hot table in the buffet was cold most of the time, who wants cold food
Location: views of the ocean on one side and the lagoon on the other.
The beach is very large but the palapas are few and far between. You better save seats on the beach or the pool by 7am or you are too late. The food was avg at best. We spent four days at a RIU in Playa first and the selection and quality was much better. One morning the milk was sour(spoiled) and it was on the buffet. Worst experience was at the Italian restaurant. Poor waiter and not very good food.(concensus of 16 in our group)

great stay

Pros: always helpful staff every area always very well kept beautiful villa room
Cons: I don't know what they could do to make it better
Location: within walking of lots of shopping beach access
very very nice resort fantastic beach playing in the surf was a blast good food good service GREAT room upgrade resort layout was very well done the front desk staff at check in did a wonderful job we travel to the Cancun area 2 or 3 times a year have never had a smoother check in anytime we went to front desk with questions they were great room service was prompt and friendly everything was always just as it should be
