We loved everything about this resort (staff, cleanliness, amenities, activities, beach location - all of it), with only one comment that the food was 'meh' (but then, we've never been to an all-inclusive that had food anything better than meh). If you're ok with not making food your primary decision maker, than this resort will make you very happy.

The 1st half of the trip was great. The second half was Hell. I got food poisoning from the ceviche at the lunch buffet. It's the only thing I ate that my husband didn't, and I got sick a few hours later. I threw up all night but was relieved the following morning to find they had an on-call doctor. She was very helpful. My veins had collapsed from dehydration so that I couldn't get an IV. Instead, I got injections in my hip and 5 prescriptions. The meds cost $542 USD. After some art twisting, the hotel agreed to pay the doctor's $150 visit fee but said I'd need to go out into town and get a blood test confirming it was specifically food poisoning for them to compensate me. Otherwise, they consider it a general illness. My body spent 24 hours turning itself inside out. Sorry, but there is no alternative. I'm a boring middle-aged woman who barely drinks, and I ate all my meals at the all-inclusive resort. They knew I couldn't get into a cab in 80 degree weather to find a clinic in a foreign country to get a blood test. I could barely stand up! Offering to compensate me if I perform the impossible is such a cop-out. Overall, the trip was a bummer. I spent half of it in misery, and my husband had to try to have fun alone. I'll try to focus on the first two days there since they were great, but feel obligated to warn anyone else. Bring meds if you have access & don't eat proteins from the buffet.

I like the size of the property. The beach is perfect. The food is pretty good. The staff is amazing. There aren't enough chairs around the pool for how many people are at the resort, so if you want some shade you're forced to rent a cabana every day you're there. I don't like the balcony furniture as it's just two metal chairs, no loungers or love seats. The common area downstairs isn't horribly inviting, as in the couches are tiny and not somewhere you'd want to hang out for a while. If you're #1 priority is the beach, this is a great spot. Your room will overlook the beach and it will be gorgeous. If relaxing is your priority, I'd look around more. There staff is all wonderful and that means a lot.

Great service, food, and experience. The beach at the Zilara is all you could dream of and more - it is extremely well maintained, the waves are great for swimming, and you can walk along the water past other resorts. Entertainment - fitness classes, shows, and culinary class - are good. And the food was overall great, but you can skip the hibachi.

The beach and hotel are very nice. Pool is heated and well maintained. Service is excellent and food was good. Great hotel for couple or older adults. Shows are ok and everything shuts down by 11pm. Not a late night party hotel but still a lot of fun.

Things were clean, well kept up and an impressive staff was constantly on the move changing out decor for various celebrations. Our room cleaning was top notch. But, there are quite a few run down properties in the surrounding area - not Hyatt's fault, but it does take away from the overall experience when you walk along the beach or on the road.
