When our flight was delayed by fourteen hours, I called Orbitz and asked them to call the hotel to retain our room. I stayed on the phone, and the Orbitz agent confirmed, "not to worry, they are going to retain your room." When we arrived at the hotel, after nearly 25 hours of straight travel, the receptionist told me "the room is gone." They put us in dark, dirty and dank cell room, telling us that our room would be ready in eight hours time. I explained that we had not slept the previous night, were exhausted and dirty. We wanted to unpack, shower, and relax before heading out for the day to enjoy Cancun as we had already missed a large part of our trip due to the airline delays. The manager then, begrudgingly, gave us a room, with a balcony and we were able to enjoy beautiful Cancun for the rest of our stay.
