50 / 50

We just stayed at this resort for a week with our family of five (three kids 11, 13, and 15). We generally had a fun, relaxing time. The rooms were very nice and clean - we had a villa down by the ocean. The outdoor activities staff was fantastic and very engaging, which added to our enjoyment. While I acknowledge that most of the world does not get to experience the luxury of staying at an all-inclusive resort, there were a few things that I will mention in this review that would sway me from returning. It's too bad, too, because I kept thinking that only a few tweaks would be such quick wins and would easily turn most of their guests into raving fans.
1) The food and food-variety at this resort was, unfortunately, sub-par. Examples include their "snack corner" where they served pizza with hot dogs as a topping. Huh? Their main nightly buffet was also poor quality. The restaurants were not too bad, but I'd love to be "wowed."
2) We found several of the staff in the dining areas and the bartenders at the main pool bar to be generally poorly trained in customer service. The main pool-area omelette bar was comical because it seemed we were annoying the woman by asking for, well, an omelette. We were able to laugh about this as the week went on and the running joke in our group became "50/50" in reference to the overall inconsistency of service and food options.
