Right on beach!

Staff was outstanding! Smaller, older hotel with great service. Max and Alexie at adult pool bar, and Erick the server in buffet, and many others were amazing. Food was decent. Beach is beautiful and also 3 pools. It is very comfortable place but not overly glamorous. I would go again for sure.

Hotel is walking distance from the malls & close to the downtown. The staff was excellent & helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily. Especially loved the food! Will be staying there again.

Very nice place for the price!

All inclusive experience was very good! A large selection! Staff was friendly and helpful and didn't bug you too do stuff! Drinks were good! I would recommend this hotel, great for the price!

Beautiful ocean view, would do again!

Pros: very well kept up for it's age!
Cons: More wi fi time and more English speaking employees!
Location: The mall across the street was nice, Chicken Itza was great, bus travel was very organized along with van drivers!
My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at Occidental T Barlow, food was good, cleanliness was good, help was very helpful and pleasant! (and of course the ocean and sand was beautiful)!

Beyond my expectations!..

Pros: The friendliness and hospitality, the beautiful views (2 different ocean views) in my room. The daily morning buffet.
Cons: It was difficult to schedule a reservation. You had to call between 7 and 4p.If you call at 8a you would get 9:30p. But they would accommodate if ask
Location: Lots to do, beautiful location, back of a high end mall (but not crowded) across the street. Beach goes on for miles, carribean waves
I can't say enough about the Occidental Tucancun hotel itself and their staff The staff's friendliness and hospitality went above and beyond my expectations. When you walk up to the front desk upon arrival you are met by the beautiful Carribean breeze. The front lobby is wide open. I never exchanged my money. I used USD to tip and was more than happy to give them the "extra" value of our money because they were constantly working so hard to make our stay be the best it could possibly be. The room was clean and there were unlimited refills for the wet bar in the room. The telephone operator, Roxanne, was very pleasant, resourceful and kept on top of any and all requests. The waitstaff in the four restaurants (fish, Italian, Mexican and an international buffet) were very friendly and courteous. Everyone worked hard at meeting my every need promptly. Who does that these days?..I had a corner room so I had 2 ocean views, one of the Cancun coastline and the other the oceanfront. When I walked out of my room the lagoon was right in front of me. Beautiful sunsets, 85 degrees everyday, falling asleep with the balcony door opened so you could hear the ocean all night long . I believe there were 2 pools, maybe 3, one was an infinity pool on the second floor, adult only. I went with my 14 year old daughter and was treated like royalty. There are a lot of games in the pool area being played, volleyball in the pool and out, there was a d.j. every day.

Buyer Beware

Pros: Service from bar and wait staff, Room was cleaned thoroughly each day.
Cons: Food quality was horrible. I am not that hard to please.
Location: Beach is good, Jet ski, Parasailing, etc close by.
CORRUPT. We were told upon check in we needed to pay up front for the WiFi, which was no problem. Paid the $35 exact cash and that was it. Upon check out we were told the $35 had never been paid and that we had the charge applied to the room. THIS WAS A LIE AND A SCAM THE WHOLE WAY. The couple behind us observing this said they tried the same thing on them last year. The front desk lady said we will have management check the cameras of when we checked in to verify if there was any exchange of payment. After a half hour we came back to the desk and she told us "the money we handed them was a request for change" ANOTHER LIE. If this was an exchange for change than why did we receive nothing but a ticket with the internet code in exchange!?!? They lied about it right to our faces and they knew it. I asked to see the camera footage myself and they responded "this is not possible". LIE We ended up just paying the $35 AGAIN so they would leave us alone and let us check out. This left me with the most sour taste in my mouth upon leaving. Let me assure you I am not mistaken here, the $35 was handed to them personally at check in. The young looking curly haired front desk agent (GEOVANNY) saw an opportunity to put cash in his pocket and charge the fee to the room for us to deal with 5 days later when we checked out. Poor demonstration of ethics and character. He and the rest of the front desk staff should be terminated. Although, sadly I still don't think that would fix the problem.

good hotel but they playing game with you

Cons: more food the some food every day and horrible food too
Location: good location
we booked king size bed and ocean front they do not have one . they give it to us double bed room that's hard for couple to sleep apart hahahhahah , I wish they can offer us more but they saying the all rooms is full

Overall, disappointing, won't go back here

Pros: The adult pool with shade available and Margarito the bartender was GREAT. Jose the bartender at the inside bar was GREAT.
Cons: Lots, but #2 on list is to remove the PA system at the pools and maintain a QUIET atmosphere. People come here to relax and for peace and quiet (IMO)
Location: The location is OK
NOISY. Employees yelling and banging carts and equipment starting at 6am. Can't sleep. We didn't get a king size bed until 2 days into our trip although my booking ticket clearly stated king size bed. Manager was annoyed we even complained. Some employees are very nice but others are not and the ones that are not should be the ones setting the example, reception, managers, etc. Sheets on the bed not fitted therefore not comfortable. climate control in the rooms = bad (we had 2 rooms). Reception desk won't make change for larger bills so you can have smaller bills to tip the good employees. Food was just OK, average, NOT GREAT. The pool area is too loud with PA system. This is not a night club, should be relaxing and quiet.

Great location with a beautiful beach

Paid extra for a king size bed and got 2 queen size beds that felt more like a double bed.The front desk person tried to say that I get what was only available. With some arguing I was told it was the only room available and to come back in the morning to try and get another room as people were checking out every day.This was our 27th anniversary vacation so we weren't going to sleep on separate beds.We slept terrible the first night there.They finally got us a king size room the next day about at 2 pm.They ruined our first day and night there.It started off horrible but ended up being a great vacation. Besides the horrible experience with the front desk staff the rest of the staff were Great.Lots of great food available all day and night . Very clean all thru out the motel.Wish they had other beer besides Corona .Thats the only beer available. Plenty of other alcohol available till 3 am so we had plenty of fun.Loved the beach .The location was not to far from the airport and down town.
