Decent Hotel in Cancun

Hotel was very clean and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food was just ok. A lot of it was not what we are used to but you do get that when traveling outside of the US. Overall it was a nice place to stay

I enjoyed the way they treat clients as vip's. The attention they put on me on every time they saw me was so spectacular. I definitely recommending this complex to all my friends and co workers since I returned to work. Never will change my next get away

Nice Hotel, with unreasonably guest services

The hotel was nice everything was quality. The food was better than any of the other places I have stayed at in Cancun. If it's a resort your looking for you will be disappointed to find it's small with very limited options. The nightly entrainment one night was a beach party, that amounted to mostly guest kids with balloons dancing. My major complaint would that my toilet clogged up the last night, they sent a guy as soon as I called at 0430, he worked on it for about 1 1/2 hrs, unable to fix it. He turned the water to it and they said they would send a man at 8. I refused this time because, I had to shower and be checked out by 10. Kicker was when I went to check out I owed 20 pesos or 50 cents for a phone call, THEY WOULD NOT LET ME CHECK OUT until that was paid in pesos, I didn't have. Even though I said I haven't had a bathroom in my room since 0430, it didn't matter to them they needed this 20 pesos a dollar bill wouldn't do either.

I read other reviews on this resort so I was a lil skeptical at first but this is a great place to stay. Food was on point & im a very picky eater They had many choices at the buffet including rib eye steaks & filet mignon , the breakfast was great & my waiter made sure my glass stayed full of mimosa !!!! I will definitely recommend to any friend or family member !!! One thing that could be improved is maybe 2 more items added to room service menu like buffalo wings or chicken fingers and the sports bar food improved also. Overall a great stay!!!! I give the Riu Peninsula a 100%

Pros: Stafff
Location: See above
Fridge does not get colder than the room (Perhaps their attempt at being green?). Light in the bath had a short and you could not reach it from the toilet. Entrance Door blows and rattles in the wind (Geez you are on the beach do you think there will be wind? If it happens to you just close a towel in it) Food is OK, Lobster is GREAT. Staff is Great. Although they are kind of snobbish to the lower class RIU folks next door when they come visit. Noisy Joint. Breakfast was Very Good. I've stayed at about 10 places so far in Cancun. The RIU in Costa Rica was GREAT. Debating on trying one of the other RIU's in Cancun as for now although it is old the Fiesta Americana Condesa is the way to go.

Pros: Almost everything. The easiness to get around. Your employess are very hard workers!!!
Cons: The Sports Bar was pathetic. Could use some sprucing up. The food did not look appealing at all. It's as if the food had been sitting out for hours
Location: We pretty much stayed inside your resort area.
We were welcomed very nicely. We were celebrating our 25th Anniversary. We mentioned this at the front desk and nothing special was done. Which was ok. On the way up to our room a gentlemen was going up to a higher floor, he mentioned he was by the elevator and requested a room change. We think we may have gotten his room, because we were by the elevator. Its a bit loud. The food was excellent. All the restaurants were very well run. We followed the dress code but found it was not enforced. Many people were in T-shirst & flip flops. We dont' mind a more relaxed dress code, but not right that it was not enforced or you should change the wording to maybe NO T-Shirts or Flip Flops. We truly enjoyed our trip though!

Beautiful Hotel and Setting

My wife and I had a great time celebrating her 70th birthday, along with another couple who joined us. The room was very nice with lovely views of the grounds, pools, and sea. The food was very good with a lot of variety and was served by pleasant, attentive servers. Some of the food could have been hotter and fresher, but for the most part was appetizing and appropriately presented and served. We spent a great deal of time at the various pools, where we enjoyed drinking and relaxing. Nightly entertainment could have been better, except for two bands and the Vegas-style show (with a great band) that we enjoyed Friday night. We already discussed making a return visit next year to the RIU Palace Peninsula in gorgeous Cancun.
