Room in bad conditions and things disappear

Posted Sep 1, 2015
They didn't have the room that I reserved. .. then they give me other room where the shower didn't work :( in general problems with the bathroom Then I leave my glasses in the table in the room and someone stole it I think that for a hotel like RIU the guests shouldn't be worried for these kind of problems ...

Servies

Posted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: Everything especially the service and hospitality.
Cons: Not a thing everything was perfect.
Location: The location is terrific with a very clean beach and the pools were terrific. All the activities at the pool areas and at the theater were awesome.
It was a great experience and I would recommend RIU Peninsula with high regards. The service the location and the activities were excellent. Plan to visit again soon.

Excellent hotel, close to the beach

Posted Aug 30, 2015
When we arrived we were welcomed with drinks. The staff there were eager to help, extremely polite and helpful. Throughout our stay we did not have any bad experiences with the facilities or staff. We stayed at one of the villas and it was amazing. Only flaw was that the private pool was very warm all day, more so than the public pools. Other than that it was truly great.

Great stay

Posted Aug 30, 2015
Everything was amazing. The only thing I would have changed would be the restaurant food was decent but the buffet was good, really good so after we would eat at the restaurant we would run over to the buffet, that's the beautiful thing about all exclusive

Unique setting, decent food, great family time

Posted Aug 29, 2015
We loved the fact the hotel had two sides with a beach. We've stayed at 6 all inclusives and this is the first one to be on a peninsula setting. We loved our Oceanview room it was spacious and roomy. Very accommodating to families. There were only a couple times we felt the staff could have performed better, but most of the staff was very nice and cordial.

Beautiful but customer service is lacking

Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: Rooms were brand new, clean and most come with beautiful views.
Cons: Reception Staff need to go over what customer service really is and listen to their customers concerns i.e don't roll your eyes Andres
Location: Cocobongo, Senor Frogs, Isla de las Mujeres, Xcaret, are all relatively close by and are must see.
I loved the hotel and the views were amazing but to be quite honest the food in the buffet was lacking. It felt as if I was eating out at a college dining hall and the food was bland. My only true qualm with this place was the lack of attentiveness by the reception staff. My family and I stayed their for my wedding and anytime we had an issue with our rooms the reception staff would act in defensive manner instead of acting sympathetically and attempting to solve the issue. In particular I had a bad encounter with an associate called Andres who should not be in customer service. Beyond that, the hotel was fine. The bartenders were by far the best and will offer the best recommendations if you are really trying to get to the best places in town.

Average hotel with above average food

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Food, beach and beach activities (jet ski etc.) near.
Cons: Train staff for improved customer service
Location: Ferry to Isla Mujeres and excursions within walking distance; shopping and restaurants several bus stops away.
Our stay at the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun was just ok. Lots of variety at the buffet with abundant fresh fruits. The food at the Crystal and Italian restaurant was very good. Japanese and especially the Mexican, I thought, was disappointing. I've had better fajitas in the US. I didn't find the staff to be sincerely friendly. They seemed superficially nice for tips. At one mealtime, a family at the next table finished and got up to leave without tipping and I overheard the waiter saying bye and telling them to have a goodnight, then under his breadth said in singsong, "never come back". I thought it was insulting since as all-inclusive tips were included and not required. Shortly after the check-in, there was no power or water for several hours due to maintenance or whatever and had to walk up and down multiple floors. Later that night after power and water came back on but no hot water so I had to take shower with cold water, which wasn't pleasant. I was ready to check-out the next day but things got a little better but by then I was already disappointed and just wanted to make best of rest of the time there.
