The Westin Lagunamar - Not What It Used to Be
Posted Nov 28, 2016 on Hotels
I have stayed at the Westin Lagunamar a few times. During past stays, there was never a compliant on my part. Since my last visit, this hotel has changed somewhat. Overall housekeeping was good. There was one occasion where housekeeping started to clean my room in my absence, but never finished. The bed was left half-made, the floor was not swept or mopped, the counter-tops left dirty. The hotel apologized and sent up someone to fix the situation immediately. Two days later, my room was not cleaned at all. I called down to the front desk, waited 30 minutes and no one came. I had to go speak with the manager in person in order to have the issue addressed. Now some would say this isn't a big deal, put when paying 200 plus a night for a room during peak season it is.
The pool was filled with unruly children, some not accompanied by parents. Others decided to play water football over other peoples heads as if the pool belonged to them exclusively. My favorite was the drunk people swimming in the pool at night- what a delight to find cups and other objects left floating in the pool.
This hotel seems more concerned with selling timeshares then good service. I received a phone call everyday asking to attend a timeshare meeting.
My suggestion- stay at the Ritz Carlton. I have stayed at the Ritz on a few occasions, and the service is out of this world.
