Disappointment in the Rockies

Posted Jul 4, 2017
Pros: Close to walking paths.
I had big hopes about making my birthday in Canmore memorable but unfortunately it was not. The room we booked was not the room that we had wanted or thought it was going to be. The room needs some serious TLC as the bathroom fixtures were falling off the walls, the pots and pans in the kitchen were still dirty from the last occupants, the floors were so dirty that our feet were black from walking around our room and the "KING" bed was very small and very uncomfortable. For this being a "Spa" resort the pool and hot tub area was very disappointing and boring. The pool was very small and nothing for kids to do. And the parking was terrible, paid guests and we had to park on the street twice due to no parking available in the underground parking. I will not be staying here again or recommending it to anyone :(

Nice place but needs maintenance

Posted Jun 25, 2017
Convenient location and the pictures on the website look nice but the rooms need maintenance. The hideaway beds are awful. When we called about it they did offer a free upgrade but not until the next day which left us without a bed for a night. There was not a complete kitchen-only a couple of pots and no pans. Definitely not enough to cook a complete meal with. There was no. Tv in the master bedroom and no clock. Those were in the second room. But-the country is beautiful so that made everything ok!

Don't plan on using hide-a-bed in suites

Posted May 28, 2017
Pros: The scenery
Cons: Spend some money in order to bring it up to the standard suggested
Found that the hide-a-bed mattress was old with no cushion just springs covered. Sounded like someone above us was building furniture in their room throughout our stay. Lights were burnt out or could not find a switch to turn on. Otherwise not a bad stay!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We have been looking into getting a better mattress for the hide-away-beds, we hope that by your next stay we have had this improved.

Room was clean, comfortable, very spacious, and well appointed. All the comforts of home, including stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer, soaker tub, separate shower with body jets, leather furniture, fireplace, patio set, etc.

All I had asked for was a furnished balcony and a soaker bath tub - I got neither. Our room wasn't ready for us when we checked in (unlocked balcony door, garbage in room, towels not refreshed). It was a lovely room, but for the money, I would have done better elsewhere.

Dear Guest. We are very sorry that you did not get what you had requested. All our patios should be furnished with an electric grill and table, so we are sorry you did not get this. We hope that on your next visit to Solara we get to complete these request for you.

Will return

SOlara is always a lovely property. We stayed as a family over the Easter eeekend - the pool is being renovated which is disappointing but can't be helped. Management should have considered the movies shown that weekend to ensure they appealed to families.

Dear Guest,. Thank-you for spending your Easter weekend at Solara Resort & Spa, we are pleased to see you enjoyed your stay despite the pool closure; we look forward to the renovations being complete in late-June when we will have a beautiful new pool and hot tub for our guests to enjoy. We are very sorry to read that you found the movie selections inappropriate during your stay; our 6 pm movie is always child friendly and normally picked by the first guests each day to come and review the movie selection for that evening; the 8:30 movie can be any rating but we do not stock R-rated movies. Please let us know what movie concerned you as we do strive to ensure that as many guests as desire will find the movie selections age appropriate. We sincerely hope that these concerns will not dissuade you from staying at Solara Resort & Spa again in the future and we look forward to welcoming you back. Jenn Nelson Interim Hotel Director

Good Morning Mary-Lynn, Thank-you for staying with us at Solara Resort & Spa and we are glad you enjoyed your stay aside from the renovations of the pool and hot tub area. We do have the closure for these renovations listed on our website as well as the Expedia site for the hotel, we are very sorry to read that is came as a disappointing surprise to you when you arrived it is in no way our intention to mislead our guests about this renovation taking place. Due to this closure our rates are lower than the same time last year to compensate our guests for this inconvenience. We hope to be able to welcome you back to Solara again once these renovations are complete in late-June when we will have a new larger pool and hot tub. Jenn Nelson Interim Hotel Director

Had a really lovely stay, our bed was a little uncomfortable though. It was supposed to be a kind sized but they just pushed two twins together :/

Thank-you for staying with us at Solara Resort & Spa, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry you were inconvenienced by the split-able king in the second bedroom, this is an often requested feature in our two bedroom suites and the majority that are kings will be this style. For future stays you can request not to have a split-able king and we will try our best to meet that request. Again thank-you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back again.
