Calle Dell Aseo Cannaregio 5768, Venice 30131 - Map
This is a fabulous, small hotel, right in the centre of Venice. Despite being really close to the Rialto Bridge, it's an oasis of calm, and the owner and his staff couldn't have done more to make us welcome. Our room was elegant and comfortable, overlooking the small terrace and the Grand Canal beyond. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

"Nice Location, room facilities can be improved"
We stayed there for 2 nights during the new year, and were most happy about the location of this hotel - 15 minutes of walk from train station (can be faster with water bus) and 5 minutes of walk to main boat station (to nearby islands & airport). The hotel itself brings out the essence of Venice, with lovely traditional interior, charming decorations and some very friendly local staff. They offer a nice common area, too. However, I think the room facilities could be slightly improved. For example, offering some slippers and ways to make warm drinking water. I needed a pair of slippers, and got them after request (thanks!); during the last night, I caught a cold and was desperate for hot water, but the room had minibar but no kettle, and the free tea/coffee downstairs was already closed. If on budget, it might be better to stay and dine on nearby islands. However most cultural sights are on the main island, so it is still worth the money. It’s true that Venice is rather overpriced, perhaps lacking authentic vitality. However, its beauty of decadence and the quiet night atmosphere, compared with its noisy, touristic day time, is eerily charming. We are happy to stay on the main island to enjoy all that for a last minute bargain price.

"Attentive Staff - Historic Accommodations"
This Hotel is for guests who prefer an intimate experience in historic surroundings. Beautiful appointments in the lobby and in the original rooms, with Murano chandeliers and frescoes. Do not expect US standard bathrooms and you will need to climb stairs; but if you like to experience historic Venice, this is a wonderful hotel. The staff is terrific, asking to help, make reservations, etc. I would recommend also for proximity to Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop.

Pocket Guide: Venice Cannaregio Independent Historic Hotels

For visitors arriving by rail or by bus, Cannaregio is Venice’s front door and the start of the Grand Canal. It sees a lot of passing traffic in terms of canal boats and visitors en route to San Marco, but is otherwise quieter and less touristy than central Venice. Points of interest include the Ghetto area (the original Jewish enclave) with its museums and the majestic Ca d’Oro palace, one of the iconic buildings of the Grand Canal.
