Nice looking hotel, but no A/C, needs updating

We stayed 5 nights at the Intercontinental in Cannes. The staff was wonderful and the beach is great, however the hotel needs to be updated. Out of respect for this beautiful establishment and its guests, it seems unacceptable for the hotel to look so tired. The air conditioning in our room was barely noticeable and the staff had to bring us a fan. We were not comfortable at night because of the heat. This is unacceptable. For a place that charges 26 Euro/drink, all guests should be able to sleep comfortably. There isn't even any air conditioning in the lobby! Also, we could hear our next door neighbours talking. We will not be staying there again until they renovate. The owners of this hotel should invest in renovations and they should take better care of their wonderful staff and of this wonderful historical landmark.
