Hotel staff excellent, furbishing needs a little updating, room rates very good, everything else priced above market.

Excellent hotel

Pros: Excellent hotel in prime position
My wife was ill and was looked after by the hotel staff in a professional in concerning manner. Absolutely first class.

Christmas in Cannes

Pros: As above. Fab rooms, great housekeeping, gorgeous restaurant and very generous breakfast which we loved.
Cons: The young lady that we dealt with on reception, very professional but not a smile in sight unfortunately. .
Location: Great shopping, great for walks, cafes and restaurants.
This is our 3rd stay in Cannes and our 3rd stay at the Carlton so that speaks for itself. The hotel is fab-u-lous, we absolutely love it. This was our first Christmas and they did not disappoint. The Christmas eve dinner was superb, 7 courses in a very grand but comfortable setting. Food was delicious and well presented and the service was totally on point. My one gripe, when checking in, unlike on previous occasions when the receptions have made us feel very welcomed with their smile and positive attitude, unfortunately the lady that checked us in on this occasion was very anti-smile and it was just slightly off putting, both when checking in and when advising of our check out time, we dealt with the same lady and once again she was very unsmiling, professional but not the normal positive experience that we have had on all our previous visits. That said, everything else was on point including all the other staff, our lovely room, great room service and housekeeping 5 stars and I would definitely recommend this hotel - our visit was fabulous as always and we will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel with beach access.

Location: Easy walk to all the high end shops, and lots of good places to eat.
Georgeous old hotel excellently redone, very nice. Staff is excellent. Room service is excellent. One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.

Nice looking hotel, but no A/C, needs updating

We stayed 5 nights at the Intercontinental in Cannes. The staff was wonderful and the beach is great, however the hotel needs to be updated. Out of respect for this beautiful establishment and its guests, it seems unacceptable for the hotel to look so tired. The air conditioning in our room was barely noticeable and the staff had to bring us a fan. We were not comfortable at night because of the heat. This is unacceptable. For a place that charges 26 Euro/drink, all guests should be able to sleep comfortably. There isn't even any air conditioning in the lobby! Also, we could hear our next door neighbours talking. We will not be staying there again until they renovate. The owners of this hotel should invest in renovations and they should take better care of their wonderful staff and of this wonderful historical landmark.

Best location in Cannes

Best location in Cannes. The food at the hotel was amazing. The room was comfortable and very clean but needs some renovation. The hotel staff is very attentive and courteous. The beach facilities are top notch and the staff makes sure to respond to your every need. Would definitely come back.

Outrageous drink prices

We enjoyed our stay but the bar was so crazily over priced, it was ridiculous. We couldn't enjoy it as much as we would like to have. We enjoyed the company of the bartender and staff was excellent. Breakfast buffet staff were excellent. I asked for an upgrade for a sea view room but was not accommodated. I knew we paid for a breakfast package but was told we hadn't, it was up to me to show proof, which I did and the situation was rectified immediately. By the way, the staff at the beach bar were were not very good.
