Friendly, lots of character

Posted Apr 23, 2017 on Hotels
Very friendly service in a lovely old hotel in pretty little village. Lots of character, nice breakfast. Convenient drive to channel tunnel. Only drawback were the low ceilings for 6 ft husband, and lack of shower. The bath had a shower hose but the water sprayed all over the place. Overall, though, a lovely place. Enjoyed our stay.

Old Tavern and Inn

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Cons: Hard to open our door due to the the thickness of the hallway carpet. Maybe level the bed a little more.
Location: About 20 minutes outside Canterbury proper. There are two pubs across the street - I recommend The King's Arms.
The Abbots Fireside dates from the 1600's. There are narrow spiral stairs to second floor. The room floors slope to the window wall. The doors are short and open with a skeleton key. That being said, it has nice hot water for a pleasant shower, the street noise is minimal after a certain hour. I wish that the bed did not slope toward the wall - made you feel like you would fall out of bed. However, it was clean, quiet and quaint. The owners are extremely nice, and very helpful. The town of Elham is quaint and quiet during the night, which is a plus. I would recommend this hotel for someone who has light luggage and likes a bit of history.

Great overnight stay... Wish we had longer

The staff were very warm and accomodating. Ready for a chat more then happy to help however they could. Really old place but considering this and the squeaky floors.... It was very nice. Would highly recommend if u want to stay somewhere with character and charm. It is above a pub/bar but was very quiet.

A charming 15th century inn situated in the beautiful Kent countryside. Attentive staff and first class food. Not to be missed.
