Stunning location, food underwhelming though

We stayed here for our honeymoon. We upgraded to the Imperial Suite in the Castle. Great room views and having private pool was awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We experienced dissatisfaction with the food. We enjoyed the atmosphere at each restaurant, however the actual taste and range of food was underwhelming. We also had an issue with the safe in our room not opening and locking properly, and experienced the same issue with the door to our room. The pools and grounds are immaculately kept. Occasionally there were merchants within the grounds of the resort, this was a little distressing. Would highly recommend holidaying here! Overall it was fantastic.

Excellent staff

This is an older resort with needed facility upgrades and attention to detail. The staff was excellent: especially Nancy, JT, Noki(?) and Jose. The entertainment staff was very personable. The food was average. Would have preferred another breakfast option that was not a buffet. Restaurants were closed due to low occupancy of the resort. The special nightly ‘entertainment’ didn’t begin until 9:30pm or later and after a long day in the sun it felt too late, even an on time of 9pm would have been better. We had difficulty with our swim out room not being as advertised, but the staff went out of their way to find us a suitable room. Overall, our experience was nice and we may consider returning if/when new ownership upgrades are made.

Great calm & relaxing hotel aimed for adults

Pros: The unique attention given to the guests by the staff who made us feel as part of their families.
Cons: There is a need to improve your night entertainment, there was a gap between 6PM and 9:30PM that can be filled by some type of theater show.
My wife and I had an excellent time at this beautiful resort. The hotel ground and garden were immaculate. The staff's attention and their friendly approach made our stay pleasant. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with a drink, to the young man at the fitness center, who took time to explain how the equipment worked. In addition, the staff at every restaurant made us feel that they were there just for us. At the pools and at beach, they were attentive to our needs and were always asking what else can they have done for us. Our most memorable and fun filled experienced took place at the Fusion Sense of Flavors restaurant were the young men and women treated us to an exciting cooking show and a delicious meal.

nice hotel but

Pros: close to airport
Cons: little paint would help
Location: nothing to do near by
our "5 Star hotel was not 5 star. our room had peeling plaster falling off from old water damage. NEVER should have been occupied until fixed. the door handle came off twice and had to wait one hour for each repair. On the bright side after complaining to write a scathing review, I was offered on of the best villa on the property. the food as good, hotel very clean. staff friendly

Nice hotel and very quiet

Beautiful property and very peaceful and quiet. The customer service is amazing!! Friendly wonderful people. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The beach area is very nice. They have many pools and all are excellent. The only thing we did not like was the lack of availability of the restaurants. Not all are open on the same days so for dinner you are limited. During the day it is also very limited to certain hours. So if you are looking to eat at off hours it’s hard to find food. Other than this the resort is great!

A little bit disappointed

OK resort, if you have money for the villa. My friends and I had to change the rooms because there were issues. The rooms had mold, sink was clogged and paint from falling from the ceiling. The resort is in need of repairs. The beach is small so there is no reason for them not to clean the seaweed on the daily basis. The beach and the shore line around the villas were full of empty bottles and garbage. Also it had some damage from the hurricane but that’s understandable. The food was good, no free wi-fi, some restaurants were closed without notice but the staff was friendly. Overall we had a good time but would not recommend it.

Amazing!!!

We travelled here for our honeymoon and could not express in words how beautiful it was and how lovely our stay was. I requested one of the ocean front villas and we got exactly what we wanted. We could walk to the beach within 50-100 ft. Our butler Eric was awesome, he gave us a lovely tour and was there whenever we needed any assistance. The food was great, being their low time of the year the resort we were told was about 30% full so we had the place pretty much to ourselves which we were happy about. We were able to get any beach chairs/cabanas we wanted without waking at sunrise. We felt we received excellent service at dinner with no wait periods and the bartenders were awesome. We definitely recommend this place for a relaxing and fun honeymoon.

This hotel is amazing. The staff is amazing and the place is located in such a beautiful area. I happened to be there when hurricane Maria was passing by and they did an exceptional job taking care of all of us that we're staying there. I would definitely recommend and will be going back.

Secluded and gorgeous Resort

We stayed in the Monarch Villa on our Honeymoon. It has absolutley set the bar for future trips. This facility has been built and landscaped to please the senses. The Steakhouse was great. Good have taken or left the rest of the food. Would absolutley come again!!!!
