Great place to stay just outside of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Clean and comfortable.

Bait and Switch

Posted Jul 16, 2017
We had reserved a room with a king bed. On arrival we were told it had been "double booked" but he would give us a room with 2 separate beds for the same price. The proprietor's whole demeanor was one of 'tough luck -- take it or leave it.' You don't find an empty room in Cape Breton in the summer late in the afternoon of the day you want it. We were forced to take it but I warn everybody not to do business with this guy.

Right where trail starts.

For an overnight, this hotel was fine. The location was great as this is where the cabot trail starts. The scenery was beautiful.

Hotel is quiet and remote. Room needed more flat surface space to put items on.

Please read the description when you come to Margaree Forks. This place is for nature lovers who loves a quite enviroment in a beautiful scenery. We have a large COOP store with Liquor store in walking distance, just 250 m away. Three Restaurant in distances from 7 to 15 minutes. Next town is only 20 minutes away. Yes we are doing some renovations, but this is not interfearing any of the rooms who are rented out.

low cost and low value, with bugs

Posted Jun 25, 2017
Greeted by the owner who was exceptionally unpleasant. The rooms have been updated but be prepared to spend the night in a bug-infested room. There were hairs in the bed sheets from previous guests and spider webs in the room. While the owner obviously tries to include amenties onsite like a pool (which wasn't filled during our stay), he should be investing in extermination. While this is a low cost hotel, it's still not worth the stay given you're going to be sharing a room with bugs. To add, many rooms do not have AC. We stayed here in June which must have been low season and thus there were two or three other guests on site. I'm quite disgusted that while there are AC options, we weren't even given one or proposed the option. So yes, bugs, stuffy/muggy rooms, and rude management. Not worth your time.
