This is the second time we've stayed at this property and we love the house (especially the three-season room), private yard, quiet neighborhood and easy 10-minute residential walk to the beautiful western beach. In 2019 we stayed here with five people, including myself, my husband and child, and my parents. This year we visited with just my husband and child (4 yr/old). It was perfect for both visits.
This year the property has a new owner, Peggy McCann, and she was responsive and very easy to work with. I can say that I've never stayed at such a well-stocked Home Away residence. She really thought of everything. And nice stuff, too. She has these super soft throws that are great for a cool morning. The grill was easy to use and we enjoyed a small bonfire on one of the evenings. She has a shed that has sand toys, whiffle ball/bat, bubbles, kiddie pool and more.
Honestly, we were not even going to entertain going anywhere this year due to the virus, but then we remembered this place and found it was available. We brought our own groceries and used the well-stocked kitchen to cook our meals. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee in the screened room and then headed to the beach for a morning visit. The beach is lovely and is in my opinion, a far better option for younger children than the southern beach and Wildwood. The waves aren’t as strong and there is more wild life to see. Also, the beach isn’t very wide so it is an easier walk between the roadside and the water than the other beaches. The beach was surprisingly uncrowded. On a Friday morning, there were maybe 8 people on the beach, including ourselves.
Cape May is a lovely town and it is certainly fun to see and explore. We had a great time trying out the restaurants last year, but we were also happy just to hang out at this lovely home this year. We were all sad to see our 102 Haverford getaway come to an end, but we will definitely return next year.
