Nice hotel with great and welcoming staff

Pros: Lovely smelling shower gel, shampoo, hand wash, hand lotion, bedroom slippers, clean towels and helpful staff. The room was also cleaned daily.
Cons: Bleaching the linen "duvet inners" as the spare one we used had previous menstrual period stains. Early morning breakfast provision.
Location: It was safe and close to all city amenities with plenty of restaurants, Long street and Kloof street.
The room was clean, well stocked with lovely smelling shower gel, shampoo, hand wash, hand lotion, bedroom slippers and clean towels . The extra blanket was very warm and the wi-fi worked perfectly. There were also 3 options of restaurants to choose from for breakfast which was great.Thank you for a great stay experience.I would definitely recommend it and come back.

Very clean, spacious room.

We had a wonderful stay at Hippo Boutique Hotel. The room was very spacious and had a mini kitchen with plates and silverware utensils which was very convenient. the hardwood floors made it feel very home-y and cozy and the room seriously looked like it had just been remodeled! The only small issue that we had was the shower doors which were slightly broken so it was hard to open but other than that, our stay was great! Would definitely recommend!

Hippo was a great hub for our Cape Town visit. The room was clean and comfortable, and we didn't deal with any of the street noise other guests mentioned. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect and pretty central to everything - and walking distance from a lot of great spots!

The location of this small boutique hotel is a great one if you like to be in the city center. Happening street with nice restaurants and attractions in walking distance. Hotel provided breakfast vouchers valid at three nearby restaurants. We loved our room, very spacious, with a couch, coffee table, desk and kitchenette. My only two issues: spotty cleaning service and when the one person behind the reception desk needs to vacate that spot for anywhere from 5-10 minutes, at least leave a note for guests on the desk to say "will be right back?" One night we rang the buzzer for the hotel door several times with no response. We were able to enter the hotel lobby via the bar/restaurant next door. Once at the reception desk and ringing the bell for service, still no one showed up (we needed our room key). An employee at restaurant tried to help, as did another hotel guest who came out of his room. Finally the person on duty returned. He apologized and he was maybe absent for about 15 minutes, but it was our first night there and caused us some anxiety as we were very tired and saw ourselves sleeping on the hotel lobby furniture! That said, everything else was fine and we enjoyed the rest of our stay (total of four nights).

Centrally located

Pros: Location and helpfulness of staff.
Cons: I had the power go out one night which required a few minutes to rectify, but no real issue.
Location: Shopping and eating. I also did organised tours for four consecutive days and Hippo was near to good food at the end of a tiring day.
Well located near the top end of Long Street and surrounded by restaurants.
