Great staff, super informative and helpful. Lovely hotel with clean and stylish rooms. Located in a fun area which meant it was quite noisy at night. The light switches need a rethink. Even the guy working there had trouble figuring them out. Would certainly stay here again.

Great location on Kloof Street with variety of dining options. Walking distance to downtown, Long Street, museums and Company's Garden. Waterfront and Table Mountain Cable car is short Uber drive away. Fat Cactus bar (below hotel) is great place for a evening drink upon coming back from the tours. Would highly recommend.

Great place to stay in Cape Town
Nice little hotel just off Kloof Street. The front desk staff were exceptional and very helpful. They made the difference in turning our vacation week into a wonderful and enjoyable adventure.

The room smelt like cigarettes and was not that clean. The bath was massive and took forever to get to a depth to bath and there is water restrictions on Cape Town so was not great.

Amazing. We came for the test match & it was reasonable to get to Newlands with Bolt. Hotel in safe area. We walked at night no problem. Jerry's for breakfast was lovely. We never exceeded the ZAR100 pp. Good to pop in for a night cap as the staff there were exceptional. We had 8 very comfortable nights and would not hesitate to return. We booked a front room as on a budget and were never disturbed by noise.

It was a very nice experience. The bedding was super clean and comfortable. The rooms are spacious. I appreciated the stocked mini bar. The staff are very nice and helpful. They helped me with airport transfer service 4 times. The driver, Mervyn, deserves mentioning, too! The location is fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.

We were pleased by the reception, both efficient and helpful. The room itself was lovely... a great take on how to modernize decor. It was quiet (we were at the back) and in a great location.It was a great choice for the final night of our trip.

I really Enjoyed my stay at the Hippo, centrally located with a lot of restaurants nearby. I had a late flight leaving at 11 pm and they allowed me to check out late, I really appreciated that. Excellent service!!

Great stay at hippo boutique hotel
My group of four friends were lucky enough to secure a last-minute booking of four standard rooms at this divine boutique hotel. The rooms were large and well-appointed with very comfortable beds, while our breakfast the next morning was delicious! Definitely a repeat for us all, should we need to overnight in Cape Town again.

The staff was pretty good. There were a few who stood out. The property is located well with roughly all “neighborhood” services nearby, particularly for longer stays. It is within easy walking distance to most if not all CBD landmarks. There were a number of interesting neighborhood events nearby. The two restaurants downstairs and the mini-mall next door were very convenient. The building systems could use an assessment then an upgrade, but overall the property was good.

Reception is on the first floor. There is an elevator but it's hard to find. So when you arrive after a very long flight you don't want to carry your heavy lugage up the stairs.

Location was great and hotel was clean. rooms could do with an update, but we both slept well on each of our 3 nights. We arrived very late on our first night and could have done with some help up the stairs to reception with our bags (there was no lift), but other than that the staff were good. We had a 100 rand pp allowance for breakfast which is in the restaurant below the hotel

Thank you for your feedback and comments, there is a lift which is accessed from the car park. Some taxi companies are not aware of our car park and drop the guests in the front of the hotel by the stairs. We are pleased you found the location suitable.

We had several airlines delays and arrived at 2:00 am. The staff adjusted to each one, and our driver was cheerfully waiting for us, as was the receptionist for check in. The following morning, the front desk clerk helped print our tickets for table mountain before the driver they arranged took us on I’m lovely tour. We could not have hoped for better service from these wonderful people!

Hip Hip Hipporay!!!
I always book room 103 or 104 as they are refurbished and in very good condition. Only problem with the hotel is that it is noisy as of 06.00 because the stairs are just outside the door and people never seem to realize that loud voices carry and disturb others. Staff are lovely, cleaners are excellent, and the whole experience is cool.

Where to Stay in Capetown,S.A.
Staff very helpful. Hotel is nicely appointed and comfortable. We had a room on the second floor on the street which was quite noisy from the bar/restaurant downstairs until mid evening. Tre check-in clerk however asked if this was a problem before we checked in and we were happy to take it anyway because of a physical disability. It turned out to be no problem anyway and it was our choice. We'll stay there again if the opportunity exists.

Awesome individually decorated suite. The theme for my room was retro music or something to that effect, with an old turntable, tape deck, vinyls etc. and a huge leather couch.
