Great place to stay in Cape TownPosted May 4, 2015 on Hotels
Repeat visit to a guest house with character that is top quality. Very good price, great location, nice views and beautiful pool (although the Cape Town weather was not helpful here this time). Nice proprietors and staff make you feel more than welcome.

very relaxing place to start holidayPosted Apr 6, 2015
Cons: the bacon perhaps-ok but not quite like ours.
Location: short walk to seafront, bus stop for hop on buses and good restaurant(theos)
lovely old house with great garden. Very good manager(Stefan),helped us a lot with advice, airport transfer, car hire etc.-nothing too much trouble. Good breakfast taken in garden(we spotted whales from garden on one occasion) We tried to book for last 2 nights before our return flight but fully booked. The only drawback with this guesthouse might be the position near the top of hill, if you have any mobility problem For others it takes about 20 minutes to walk down to sea. Would try to stay there if we ever go again.

Cons: Alt var perfekt.
Location: Tæt på centrum af Cape Town og Taffelbjerget. 15 min til Waterfront og færgen til Robben Island.
Fantastisk guest house beliggende med udsigt over vandet. Skøn blomsterrig have med pool og mange hyggelige kroge. Personalet er meget venligt og yder en overordentlig god service.

Lovely City OasisPosted Mar 19, 2015 on Hotels
We had a great stay at Huijs Haerlem The star of the show is the charming garden where we enjoyed breakfasts, relaxing by the pool & the occasional pre-dinner gin & tonic. The decor in the room and the hotel itself could be described as a little dated but comfortable and cosy and everything was spotlessly clean and maintained. The staff and owners very engaging people - extremely friendly and helpful and gave us useful advice on many things (even though we'd been several times to CT before), such as daily reports on when the dreaded 'load shedding' (scheduled electricity shutdowns) would occur & which restaurants were still operational when the power was out. They also kindly lent us passes to use the very handy myCitibus service (nearest stop is half a kilometre down to the coast road). I also have to mention the lovely breakfasts, which were a healthy step up on standard eggs/bacon/cereal hotel fare. Clearly a lot of care was invested in the daily-changing breakfast offerings, which included home-made breads & cakes and interesting combinations of fruit, nuts and seeds (as well as well cooked eggs and bacon, cooked to order). The only thing I would point out is that it is a rather steep walk uphill to the guest house (from the main roads of Sea Point/Green Point) which might prove an obstacle for those with limited mobility. We considered it good exercise ;o) All-in-all a lovely retreat in a nice part of Cape Town, with great ocean and mountain views.

Relaxing stay in Cape TownPosted Mar 16, 2015 on Hotels
Our Queen size bed was two single matresses together, on one base but they were made up individually like you get on the continent. Parking is on the street rather than off road. There is a night securiy watch man. Othewise good location for a visit to Cape Town. Breakfasts were excellent and all staff friendly and helpful. The pool was a great way to cool off at the end of the day and watch the sunsets.

Sensitive hostsPosted Dec 6, 2014 on Hotels
Lovely hotel and setting, perfect hosts who were extremely sensitive and understanding to my needs. On Signal hill, so steep walk if on foot, from sea / beach area. Breakfast was excellent.
