What a gem! If I could give them 10 Starts I would. The facilities are new and well maintained and they run the place with an intimate, comfortable feel. These guys genuinely appreciate the business and treat guests accordingly. They have a fabulous daily hot and cold breakfast. We did a shark dive early one morning and even though breakfast was not served until 7 am, Darwin (GM and chef) prepared a breakfast box (juice, muffins, snacks) for us and had it waiting for us at 5:45 am. Well done Magellan!
Simonstown is about 5’C cooler than Cape Town. It is a picturesque little town on the False Bay side of the Cape. It felt very safe; we saw plenty of people out running, biking, kayaking. There are good places to eat nearby (Dixie’s has great meat, Bertha’s has good everything, Seaforth has good fish, and there are fish and chips places scattered about).
We rented a car and would recommend that to any visitors. Rental cars are very reasonable driving on the left side is not that hard. The roads are well marked, speed limits are low, and drivers are quite courteous. The drive to Cape Point is about 20 minutes from Simonstown; the airport is about 45 minutes, so is Table Mountain.
