Beautiful guesthouse, amazing views, comfy room and nice staff, one thing I did not realize the hotel is on a pretty steep hill so be ready to be out of breath when you walk down to the main road, the penguins are a short walk and the town is nice but busy during holiday season.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Magellan's Passage. The room was very comfortable and had a balcony with a beautiful view of the bay. We enjoyed being close enough to town to dine at the restaurants and go kayaking with the penguins (as well as visit the penguin colony) but far enough up the hillside to enjoy quietness. We both had a massage through the spa there (across the street) and it was truly one of the best massages we've had in a long time. Darwin and his staff are amazing. We'll definitely stay again when we get back to Simonstown!

EXCELLENT HOTEL IN SIMONS TOWN
This is a modern hotel with a small number of rooms. It is on a steep hill which gives great views. Our room was fantastic. A nice bedroom, with a large, well appointed modern bathroom. But then there was a spiral staircase to our lounge. The lounge had views to the mountain at the back but the view over the bay to the front was exceptional. After we had visited the local penguin colony (a must do in Simons Town) all we wanted to do was to relax in our sitting room and enjoy the view. The furniture and fittings in the room(s) were very tasteful, and the staff could not have been more helpful with our luggage, providing directions and generally making us feel welcomed. The breakfast was excellent, served in the dining room with all glass walls with a view over the bay. The hotel provides a dinner service if booked in advance. We are glad we took up this option. We had a lovely meal with great wine. We were the only guests who had booked dinner that night and it was like having a meal prepared by your own private chef. Six out of five stars.

Pleasantly surprised
Stunning views , a great bedroom ( I think we were upgraded because it was quiet season) , very good value for money. The room we got was very comfortable, spacious with spectacular views. The house and area is safe ( security even at the bottom of the road). The manager is a great people person. He makes you feel very welcome and it’s home from home. I will definitely go back

Luxury accommodations in Simon's Town
Luxury accommodations in Simon's Town, South Africa, on False Bay and about an hour's drive south of Cape Town. Fantastic views of bay and surrounding mountains from our balcony. Easy and fascinating drive to Cape of Good Hope and other beach towns on the Cape Peninsula. Quite, spacious, very comfortable room. Staff were very friendly, attentive, courteous, prompt, helpful, and informative. Good restaurants in Simon's Town, but upon request Magellans Passage will also prepare a customized dinner that is excellent. Spent five nights there and highly recommend.

Excellent hotel beautiful views
If you don't like walking up hills take an uber! Hotel is set high up with a remarkable view. Excellent service from Darwin and his team especially James who couldn't do enough for us. 5*food, spacious accommodation, impeccably clean and stylish. Only a few rooms so very exclusive. We stayed 3 nights, could've stayed another week. Handy location for the penguins and the Cape. Thankyou for a memorable stay!

Nice quiet hotel with great views of the bay.
This is a very nice, quiet, layback hotel. While the rooms are very comfortable, the staff really sets this place apart. They make you feel like you are the most important person to them. They were more than happy to fulfill any request we had. They even provided suggestions on driving routes & things to see. This hotel was the perfect place to wrap up our trip to Africa.
Breakfast on the balcony. The view was amazing.

Perfect weekend getaway
Long weekend during business trip. Perfect place to relax and close to all amenities/ local restaurants/ lots to do in Simon's Town if you can bear to tear yourself away from the large, stylish and very comfortable suites with amazing views. Immaculate home from home, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, no detail left to chance. Experienced chef should you wish to dine in with notice. Will definitely return if there is opportunity to do so.

Great boutique hotel
This is a modern boutique hotel that really works. The friendly professional team pay attention to every detail and have an evident pride in what they do. The hotel offers real quality while being totally unpretentious. The location, high above Simonstown, offers superb views over False Bay. The setting is peaceful. The rooms are light, spacious, very well appointed and comfortable. Dinner , tailored to individual needs, was perfectly cooked and presented. Excellent value for money.

Excellent place
Excellent place. Reasonable sized room. Aircon and overhead fan. Good staff. Good breakfast. Nice view over bay. Did not sample the evening meal. Quite a reasonable choice of restaurants within 25 minutes walk. The only downside is that if you do walk down into the town it is quite a climb up from the main street. Quite handy for an early start down to Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope to beat the day trips from Cape Town. Penguin colony just down the road.

Great staff and a lovely luxurious hotel.
We wanted a high quality room in Simons Town for four nights. Whilst on the outskirts of town all amenities were within a 10 minute drive and the quality of the hotel more than made up for this. The staff were wonderfully engaging and even went out of their way to provide me with an early breakfast (outside of normal times) to enable me to leave early for game fishing. I highly recommend this lovely hotel as long as you do not expect to be right in the centre of town. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful modern boutique hotel
Magellan’s Passage is a modern boutique hotel perched on the hills above Simon’s Town. This eco designed property is not to be confused with other hotels in this area. It has superior accommodation and that all important personal service that is only found in top end boutique hotels. All rooms are fabulously appointed with a combination of minimalist design and high end bathrooms. Facilities provided in our room were well thought out and fully functional. We even had a turn down service each evening. The views are stunning from the adjacent nature reserve, downtown Simon’s Town and over False Bay. The in house catering was exceptionally fresh and of a very high quality. This complimented with a fully functioning bar set Magellan’s Passage out from the competition. The most impressive aspect of our stay was the exceptionally high level of customer care delivered by our host Darwin and his well-trained team. Their service was relaxed, attentive, and seamless and what you would hope for in a high end establishment. Nothing was too much to ask for with advice that was both thoughtful and informative. Overall with its close proximity to Cape Point and the attention to detail provided by the front of house team, “Magellan’s Passage” is one of the best properties to stay when touring the Cape Peninsula.

Loved it!
Great small hotel, furnished tastefully, gorgeous room with gorgeous view, friendly, accommodating staff, good breakfast. Note that you have to pre-reserve dinner a day in advance, since they come to the 'house' and prepare it in front of you in the kitchen. A bit of a walk to Simon's Town historic mile (up/downhill).

Wonderful hotel on hillside near penguins
We loved this hotel. The location is about a 5 minute walk up the hill from Boulders Beach where the penguins are. We had a seaside room and the view was terrific. The room was spacious and super-clean. The staff was wonderful from when we arrived to when we left. Breakfast was great. Parking was convenient. We would absolutely look to stay at this hotel again.

Awesome and amazing!
I went to Cape Town for a solo getaway. I stayed at this hotel for 11 nights, and couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is run by 3 guys, Darwin, James, and Sam. They will look out for you and your every need. They made dinner reservations for me and looked up and printed out info for some of my every day adventures. I also had the chance of meeting the owners, who are a lovely and warm couple. Included breakfast each morning was delicious. Room was super comfortable. And the view, breathtaking. I ate all my meals on the terrace :) It is about an hr from the airport and city centre, but honestly, wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. Driving here is easy (even for those of us used to driving on the right side of the road), and makes everything accessible. Would recommend this place to anyone, and hope to stay here again on my next visit.

Fantastic find
Lovely new property at the back of Simonstown with fantastic views. Approachable staff and immaculate room.Allowed use of the lounge and bar area, the chef will cook for you,we were very sad that he was not able to for us as load shedding from the electric company meant he could not guarantee he would have electric to cook that evening. He is going to change to gas so take the opportunity if you can.

Outstanding View & Service
Outstanding view of the ocean side, bay and waves coming ashore on the beach. Simon's Town just down the mountain side where the naval base, beaches and coastline can be seen. Breath-taking whether on the sea view side or mountain side. My daughter and I stayed during the winter month (July) and fortunately had the "house" to ourselves. Darwin and Samuel far exceeded their need to please with casual comfort, recommendations and personal service. Choose this place over transiting from Cape Town. We stayed two nights in order to go on a shark cage dive. Well worth the cost because we were treated as if royalty. If driving (we had rental car) there is ample parking. Hotel/Inn located in residential housing so ask for directions, yet you will experience the most awesome view. Several tiers/floors where MP offers a bar, computer, TV, restaurant (pre-order), and in room fridge-coffee service. Splurge on the sea-view where we drank early morning coffee overlooking the bay/sea view. This is a small Inn and personal service is fantastic. Book early and often. We plan to return. Darwin, GM, is also a chef so plan to ask him to prepare a special dinner!!

Intercontinental treatment at Best Western price
What a gem! If I could give them 10 Starts I would. The facilities are new and well maintained and they run the place with an intimate, comfortable feel. These guys genuinely appreciate the business and treat guests accordingly. They have a fabulous daily hot and cold breakfast. We did a shark dive early one morning and even though breakfast was not served until 7 am, Darwin (GM and chef) prepared a breakfast box (juice, muffins, snacks) for us and had it waiting for us at 5:45 am. Well done Magellan! Simonstown is about 5’C cooler than Cape Town. It is a picturesque little town on the False Bay side of the Cape. It felt very safe; we saw plenty of people out running, biking, kayaking. There are good places to eat nearby (Dixie’s has great meat, Bertha’s has good everything, Seaforth has good fish, and there are fish and chips places scattered about). We rented a car and would recommend that to any visitors. Rental cars are very reasonable driving on the left side is not that hard. The roads are well marked, speed limits are low, and drivers are quite courteous. The drive to Cape Point is about 20 minutes from Simonstown; the airport is about 45 minutes, so is Table Mountain.

Little hard to find it, but worth every penny...
Top notch service, beautiful view of the bay and clean, modern style. We loved the appearance of the hotel from inside and out. The building is new, very clean and furnished comfortably with modern amenities. The open concept combined with comfortable seating and great views of the ocean and harbor were just the beginning. James and Darwin were incredibly welcoming to my wife and I. Warm and friendly, they showed a great enthusiasm for making their guests at home. Darwin made us an incredible dinner and breakfast on site in the sleek and modern kitchen which is open to the lounge area, so it feels like you are being catered to at a friend's home. A very modern and fancy home that is. We would recommend staying on the property for meals as well if you are there as a getaway. The food is great and eating on the patio is fantastic. All in all, this place is a great value. IF you get a chance, the luxury suite on the top floor is fantastic with a private balcony overlooking the ocean.

My Favorite Spot
This was our second time staying at Magellan's Passage. My husband and I loved it so much the first time, we brought my in-laws to share with them this special place. Everything was perfect. Amazing view and beautiful rooms. Very romantic! The staff is amazing. James & Darwin truly embrace hospitality and always take the time to make our stays extra special. The breakfast was great, and Darwin prepares wonderful dinners as well. This is definitely our favorite B&B in the Cape Town area. Highly highly recommend!!

Staying here was a real treat. We had one of the ocean facing rooms. It was large, very well equipped and very clean. Bathroom was huge, very modern and great to use. From the moment I arrived the staff were wonderfuly helpful and professional. The room was delightful, I had a mountain view on on side and the beautiful seascape from the balcony on the other. Wow! What a hotel!
Magellan's Passage, situated mid-way up the hill in Simon's Town, was a wonderful stay. The guest room was large and immaculately cleaned. The bathtub and shower were big enough for 2. The hotel was on the smaller side (I think 6 or 8 rooms), but that made for a great, intimate experience; it was basically what you expect out of a B&B. Small accents like fresh local flowers in the room and a woven rope carpet really made it a unique place to stay. The staff was overwhelmingly helpful, allowing us to check in very late (~11pm), and the complimentary breakfast was made-to-order and delicious. We decided to eat on the deck that overlooked the ocean and suggest you do the same if you stay here. This was a highly-recommended, hidden gem in Simon's Town.

A chilled and easy 5-star holiday experience
My wife and I spent 4 nights here on our vacation. The overall experience was fantastic and I highly recommend Magellan's Passage to people on holiday or work. The staff was professional and cheerful, the rooms were very clean, the omelettes and croissants were really tasty and the room offered awesome sea views from a large balcony with comfortable seats. We look forward to visiting again soon!
