Best boutique hotel in Cape TownPosted Nov 28, 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rouge Rose. However if you are mobility impaired, you may find the lack of an elevator an issue. The staff goes beyond you expectations. The made transfers, restaurant reservations, and tours for us.

Great hotelPosted Sep 13, 2015 on Hotels
We stayed for 10 nights in August 2015 at Rouge on Rose and would definitely recommend this hotel! We had a self-catering suite on the top floor. The room (#301) was very spacious and clean. Great bed. Good espresso machine. Location of the hotel at colourful Bo-Kaap is very good, city center and De Waterkant are only a few blocks away. Owners Ursula and Michel were fantastic: they arranged private guided tours for us, gave excellent restaurant tips, arranged soccer tickets and much more. Altogether the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Laundry service was excellent. The breakfast was delicious, perfect for us. Wish we had stayed there longer! Thank you for making our holiday so memorable and happy.

Feels like home!Posted Sep 3, 2015 on Hotels
Feels like home. Really very friendly family who runs the hotel. Ask Michel about restaurants and things to do. If you have more time he can tell very good stories about the city and politics :-) Breakfast is brilliant. Try out the French toast there!

A wonderful boutique hotel near downtown Cape TownPosted Jul 28, 2015 on Hotels
This boutique hotel gave us a warm welcome that continued through our entire stay. The breakfasts were superb, easily accommodating our needs for gluten-free food. Our spacious room included full kitchen facilities, a king-sized bed, and a large bathroom (shower, no tub). The hotel is beautifully decorated. The hosts are very knowledgeable about Cape Town and ready to advise newcomers. The hotel is located in the picturesque Bo-Kaap district, only a few blocks from downtown.

Windows were single glazed so got a fair amount of traffic noise, even able to hear people in the street having a quiet conversation. Also there is a noisy mosque nearby. Hotel inside is really clean though, breakfast was fantastic and staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Very obliging ownersPosted Jul 7, 2015 on Hotels
I don't know what to make of Cape Town as we were only there a few days, but I know that the owners of Rouge on Rose are among the most obliging and helpful people you could hope to meet. While we tried to differentiate between the dark and the dangerous in this city of contrasts, the constant beacon keeping us on the right track was the clear and considerate advice of Ursula and Michel, who even went to the extent of printing out walking maps to the various restaurants where we were likely to get good vegetarian food! We were able to walk there and back quite safely on a Saturday evening - and the food was excellent. The guesthouse is well located near a good shopping area with all the tourist attractions within easy reach. The Red Bus stops a 5 minute walk away. Plenty of bars and restaurants within a short walking distance, but I wouldn't walk too far or late at night for safety. The only slight downside was the early morning prayers from the nearby mosque. Thank you Ursula and Michel for your kindness and assistance in our short stay!

A large bedroom in a typical quarterPosted May 14, 2015 on Hotels
I like when I come in Hotel when the owner spell your name...it's cool, I appreciate it, you are not a stranger. All is perfect, the bedroom is big like the bed. The Italian shower is large too. This is like an apartment...the only regret is the internet connection which is little slower.
